haha...I know what you mean, but the sad thing is, sometimes they do. I'm not a pro on reducing render times, but I would think that some postwork could light the entire scene up fine just by toying with some brightness and contrast...that's how I would usually do it, outside of maybe a few instances where I'd have to roll with something else. I'm beginning to think that a few minutes of postwork in Photoshop or something can save hours in render times and look just the same. Anyone else have suggestions to help out the Squeekmeister? :) MD
squeeka, something else you might try is to change the light to ranged. If you're only trying to light a portion, not all of it (like replacing the sun), then limiting the light helps. At least, I've found it does when I've done that. Playing with the shadow settings of the light might help also. And someone will correct me if I'm completely off base here, but I think I'm right. Susan
I've got the light set to ranged and only at 12. Maybe it's because it's parented to the figure? I don't know, I'm going to let it finish rendering without the light in there and save it, then rerender and play with the light a bit as eelie suggested. We'll see what happens :) Thanks to both of you for the suggestions, I'll try them out. Jen :)

Nine more hours of render time on an image I'm not even sure I like :( Before I added 1 radial light render time was only 10 minutes :( Only problem is I need that light or it's too dark, any suggestions?
