That's the problem, Rawn. A rigid prop (such as a staff) should not "inherit bends"... A prop that would inherit bends is one that would flex at a joint. For example, a pauldron on the shoulder that bends with the shoulder. Just by parenting, it automatically assumes the same position relative to the body part without needing "inherit bends"... it doesn't mean inheriting the X, Y, and Z rotations, it means inheriting the deformations of the mesh such bends cause.
Remember, kids! Napalm is Nature's Toothpaste!
@Rawnrr - I seem to try to do something similar with your poses. I'm wondering, if you parent the cylinder to the right hand, is the left hand free? That is, everything is OK if you only want a static pose, but if you want to animate the movement of both hands holding the cylinder? Have you found an easy way to do it? I would hate to try keyframing all the left hand positions.

Hello I am working on a set of poses for a character...where the first 2 worked fine with the prop parented to the characters hand......but then when I apply the pose from my third preset (in my pose library)..all of a sudden the prob goes wild. Any idea why this would happen and how to fix it? Rawnrr
