Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 04 12:42 pm)
the problem i have with the existing figures is that they're all someone elses idea of what a human being should look like { finding the best looking person around and cyberscanning him/her }... i would like to see a figure that is kinda "BLANK" or at least have the option to make it so ... i think it is every artists desire to express "themselves" and not get locked into...or having to "work around" someone elses "ideal human" that is a very handsome figure, ill be proud to own him when available... but i see myself "going the long way around" trying to get trying to get this figure to conform to MY impression of a "NORMAL" human being... bodies are easily reformed as we are all(well most) similar in our basic form...EXCEPT the shape of our heads and faces .. i think there are only about 5 different basic shapes.. these are hard for most modelers to create from a mesh that already has been defined... i guess what im trying to say is ...what i/we (i think most artists} am/are looking for is a more universal mesh.. OK ill shut up now.... JAFO
Y'all have a great day.
I agree with Jafo, He should have a more neutral base, or at least a neutraling morph built-in... see JAFO Face Smoothing morphs for Poser Man here in Free Stuff... your guy is good looking in the face but looks just like the boyfriend character on a dumb TV show called Caroline in the City... I don't know the actors name. Also that damn muscle definition, I have spent countless tearfull hours trying to smooth the abdomen ridges away on the Poser Man, please don't put them on the Millenium Man. I run an art program and none of the buffest models have abdo definition like that! And it would apear he has no pelvic bone anywhere in there, look at Michoangolos David, even guys with no body fat have muscle ringing around the hips. The problem with the legs is the shins are strangely twisted. The arms look like tubes bent at the elbow... there should be a shallow int the inside of the forearm. All that said, I'm very glad you have decided to make him, I HOPE to be able to buy him. Also, I respect you for coming down on the Victoria model, it showed humility and responsiveness to criticism. I do hope you go for volume over per unit cost, I bought Vickey in part to encourage you even though it was a serious strain on my budget. One last thing, the images at your site did NO justice to the Victoria model, you should hire an artist from around here to do some test renders that show your work to advantage, or better yet release a somehow hobbled version of the head mesh for people to evaluate if that is some how technicaly possible.
The face is definitely better. However he is short through the lower trunk area and the lower extremeties. This is why he looks funny. The upper half from hip bones up is in proper proportion, but the lower half is not. I hope this will be remedied. I do like the face and the hair. He's not as dorkish as P4 Male.
Well,Thanks for TRYING,at least. Please only take this critique constructively.I hope ZYGOTE LISTENS TO US BEFORE they release "Victor".First, his neck is too long.Second,he has NO lat muscles,Third, where is his Upper Chest? And Finally what is with those weird legs and hips?I hope we can REALLY make his face ORIGINAL for each artist. And Please give us a few non-wax look hair morphs with him(Buzzcut, etc) He Looks EXACTLY like Ricky Nelson (You can see a pic of Nelson here) http://www.acay.com.au/~usana/menzera/images/nelson.gif I hope we can Easily make this "Victor"Model Like a Big Freaky BodyBuilder or PowerLifter like we have asked.Richard Kane made The "Physique" Figure which beats ALL Males so far.I hope "Victor"Surpasses this."Physique" is Free!SO Get to work ZYGOTE!!!"Victor"is NO WAY ready!ThanksI have never bought a ZYGOTE model, but if you add these features to "Victor"I DEFINATELY will purchase him and your new models,if I know you LISTEN to your customers suggestions I will be a LOYAL customer. Please take these comments in a nice way. :)
Thanks for the sneak preview, Zygote, BUT I hope this is just an early prototype and not the pre-production beta; "Victor" needs more work. If you want a "neutral" base (e.g. dork mode), please do include full body and specific bodypart morphs for greater muscularity, i.e. the "dickless" Zygote Muscle Man. And don't forget "ethnicity" morphs for the face and some decent texture maps (for ethnic variety)too, e.g. facial and body hair, other than the default, clean-shaven, white Anglo-Saxon. Some morphs for the male genitalia would be welcome to, if previous inhibitions at Zygote have been sufficiently transcended; don't give me the "we didn't think there would be a demand for it" pathetic excuse for this; just look at Renderotica to see how Poser users have made up for the poor P4 dork's "shortcomings". Apologies, if I sound harsh; I wouldn't have bothered if I didn't care and I know that Zygote is committed to quality and customer satisfaction. So listen up people and get cracking! :-(
Eric, I like this guy!! You folks at Zygote are doing a bang up job on him so far. I notice that a few people mentioned the torso/leg length thing, so I won't add to that. I don't care what ANY of the MEN around here say, I LIKE his face. I can see some really excellent possibilities for new characters already, just from facial morphing. As for the muscleman look or the genitalia, neither of those are an issue for me since I seldom work with nudes. My biggest concern is going to be clothing this fellow. When you're ready to do the clothing pak for him (I'm going to presume that he, like Victoria, won't fit into the stock p4 clothes), let us know because I have a lot of suggestions for that. :) Kate
Hi Eric, I haven't visited the link to your sneek preview. But from the previous post I'm getting a good idea of what to expect. What I would say to the Zygote team is please create a blank canvas model on which the artist can stamp there own characteristics, and please don't create a character called, "Victor" or what ever that we have to submerge before we can create the character WE wish to create!!! My second wish follows on, please make the base mesh as robust and as flawless as possible, the great creative talent on this and other forums can do the rest as needed, as long as the basic mesh, joints and IK's are sound and well constructed. Other than that, I for one really appreciate the efforts and lengths your company is making to elicit this communities involvement in something they will be using in the future to create wonderful 3D reality...all of which will ultimately reflect on your craftmanship and skill in creating millenium man:) regards, Tribe.
Hi Keoto, What I was referring to was the overly strong facial characteristics of the Victoria model which some artists have express difficulty in disguising and hiding when they create a new character. I think this view was also express earlier in this thread and I think this is one of the reason which caused resistance to the use of the model. It was obviously alway her to a lot of comPosers and viewers. The custom clothes program would be cool:) regards, Tribe.
I have to laugh. Every time a new character comes out, everyone has to find all the negative aspects of it. Actaully, the notes on the page state that this was digitally scanned from a live human being. The way it looks on this page could merely be the focal setting used for the render. I love it so far and I'll reserve my judgment until I see the actual finished product. Melanie
Hmm. Everyone's calling him Victor. Looks more like a Manny (Millie = Millenium Woman, Manny = Millenium Man, IMO)... BUT, Victor was the name of Dr. Frankenstein, so maybe there's some parallel here... :) Personally, I think this looks like an Average Male body with an Ideal Male head; some proportions seem strange, but actually reflect how real people are built (though the neck may be a bit long; I'd have to go back and look again to be sure). And personally, I think Zygote should sell the "strong character" models the way Victoria and the Milennium Man are being sold, but make more "generic" individuals for use with Poser 5 when (if) it comes out... ;-)
Hello everyone, This is Eric at Zygote. As you can tell, we are excited about the future release of the Millennium Man (we still are deciding on the name). Thank you for your constructive criticisms and specific concerns. (For the record, the more specifically you word these items, the better we can understand and incorporate your ideas. Words like ideal and neutral don't give us much to go on.) We do plan to use your comments in the creation of the morph targets that will be availible. Regarding the price issue, We originally planned to have the regular price of Victoria at $99.95. Due to the great response from our customers we decided it might be better to offer her for $59.95, hence the credit to the store. We will introduce the male model at the regular price of $59.95. We do also plan to offer a special discount for the people on our mailing list. Please make sure you are on it! Eric Allen Zygote Media Group
Hi Eric, An introductory price of $ 59.95 would certainly make "Victor" (God, not "Manny" please; it's such a total wimp of a name) more attractive as a purchase. By "neutral", I was referring to a default, base figure (e.g. Poser 4 dork). It seems that when Zygote releases a new generation of nude figures, it has to grapple with the twin (and competing) objectives of either making it an base model of an average "every man" type figure (for the widest possible applications) and/or giving the model "more character", i.e. stronger and more specific features such as ethnicity, muscularity, stature, etc. which might possibly make the figure's use more selective. Invariably, the default, base figure seems to turn out rather "dorkish". This is fine as long as there are included morphs, i.e. for ethnicity, muscularity, etc. which allow other users to re-define the character and give it more specific ethnic detail and stronger physical features. This is crucial especially if the new figure no longer supports those existing (face and body) morphs created for previous generations of Poser people. And of course, the best mesh without a good texture/bump map(s)is virtually useless, so do consider including these (and other neccessities such as hair) for "Victor's" release as well.
I'm thrilled with the way he is. He looks great. As for long necks, there's a guy in my office who has the longest neck I've ever seen on a human being, so it's not too strange. Also, take a look at actor Mark Alaimo. He has a giraffe neck, if I've ever seen one. I would assume that the neck could be scaled on the Y axis to accommodate. There really isn't a perfect or ideal body. Everyone is unique. Anyway, I can't wait to get him. Melanie
Eric, what do you think about my "constructive" criticisms above? His Neck is too long,he has no Lat Muscles, and No Upper Chest, and his Legs and Hips are weird.PLEASE Make his FACE FULLY MORPHABLE (So we can make ORIGINAL CHARACTERS),and BIG BodyBuilders,PowerLifter Types. Thanks For FINALLY adding Genitals, and Can you add some NON wax Hair Porphs like Buzzcut, etc.Jim sounds like a good name for him.Thanks.Artist3D. :)

As those of you who own Zygote's Victoria model may know, we are currently working on a male Poser figure to accompany her. Although still very much a work in progress, the modeling is nearly finished. Just to let you see how things are coming along we've posted an image of the new Millennium Man on our site, so swing by and take a peek. Go to http://www.zygote.com and click on the "Sneak Preview of the new Millennium Man" link. While you're there I'd like to encourage you all to register for Zygote's Poser e-mail list, too. A special introductory price on this new Millennium Man, as well as other future products, will be offered exclusively to those on this list. Also, Zygote has decided to have a special promotion in less than a week to reward those already subscribed and those who will subscribe before we run the offer. (Trust me, if you like Zygote models, you'll want to be signed up!)
