Umm, I don't know if it can or can't be done. I'm thinking that what gregsin is saying is that the whole material combination ie: all 4 channels can be named when you save it as a material, not that the individual channels can get new names. I'm not saying that they can't be renamed but that I don't know how it would be done.
Go into the DTE for each channel and hit the top brass button next to the Combination preview. This brings up the .BRT library. Click Add and save under the new name. Now, be sure and exit with the checkmark and the channel will have the new name. If you forget and hit the "X" the newly save .BRT can be loaded via Ang's example abpve. HTH; Dan
When you are in the DTE if you hold down either cntr or alt while clicking on the random selector at the bottom right of the combined textures it will open up an image file of all the bump, basic, cloud textures. You can then add the new texture to this list with any name you want. I hope this isn't too confusing, I don't have Bryce open just now so what I've said comes from my hazy memory, i just knoe that it is possible. Catlin You should ask Aldaron he knows heeps of stuff on this kind of thing.

Hi everyone. Just finished the DTE work for the challenge, lots of totally unexpected fun! :) I have a question: while creating the mats, I wanted to save the textures I created in the various channels with a different name to have them handy in the future, but didn't dare to do it because I feared to overwrite the existing ones. For these it's too late now, but do you know if I can do it next time? Or I did the right thing not messing with it? Thanx in advance. S.
