Subject: Should all DAZ Platinum Club items be $0.99 during sale period?

rreynolds ( ) posted Tue, 05 August 2003 at 1:05 PM · edited Thu, 15 August 2024 at 6:41 PM

There are a lot of Platinum Club items that are still $1.99 and I wonder if that's a mistake or not? Nothing in the new club description says everything in the club will be on sale. It's only a minor quibble that prices are 99 cents more, but if everything were on sale now, I'd be more likely to puchase more while the sale is on versus waiting till I felt a need for the items. I'm less conservative during a sale because something at half the price for something I might want is a more likely purchase than something that will still be around at the same price a year from now.

Some are DAZ originals, some are brokered (the Silverleif Studio, SSwhatever, textures for example). Only the former are discounted.

The 99 cent items are reduced due to the 50% off Daz original products. The $1.99 items are brokered PClub items and are not reduced in the sale. Items that are Daz Original Items outside of the PClub are 50% off and Brokered items are 30% off due to the PClub special sale. These are only valid if your a PClub member by the way, other people pay the regular price. Newer Items that are brokered are not reduced because they are already reduced at an introductory price, the sale going on does not make them go down. hope that helps. Info from all the threads on the sale going on and what Daz has said in the last week.

Going through my wishlist it looks like the $0.99 are Daz Original stuff and the brokered items are $1.99.

Some items in the Premium store [e.g. Sarah Spriteling] were on introductory sale until 4th August (yesterday) at 20% discount. They are now 35% discount like the other brokered items. So if you're interested in one of the newer items in Premium and it's intro sale period runs out before the end of the PC bonanza on the 13th, then waiting looks like a good idea.

Deflation? Considering the hours of work in a model or texture, quibbling over pennies seems a bit extreme... especially compared to prices at TurboSquid (which are cheap compared to prices at one of the game industry sites). A person brokering one of those models is getting 50% of the sale... only a dollar per model sold. You'd cut that even further? Carolly

Carolly, I'm a Scotsman. You know what they say about us :D But seriously, I'm on a budget, so if waiting a few days means I can get something from the Premium store (and I agree, even at full price it's excellent value) plus a couple of Platinum items for the same price it would have cost for the Premium item alone, then I'll wait. [Did that sentence make sence? I got halfway through and lost sight of the beginning.] Mark

Hmmmm, that doesn't seem right according to what SKondris posted below in another thread: "No, Anything that is currently on it's own sale, will not be part of the storewide sale once it's current sale ends. The current sale is the best price it will be at." But, I went and checked, and sure enough, I could have gotten Sara Spritling cheaper by waiting till it was off its introductory sale and "in the new sale". I guess the whole thing is just confusing. Oh well, it's not the end of the world, I guess.

"I guess the whole thing is just confusing." Or it could be a bug in the store software - unlikely though that may seem ;-)

BTW Sarah Spritling is absolutly Awesome!

I should have noticed that the items that were still $1.99 in the Platinum Club were brokered items. Blame that on a bleary-eyed person downloading a couple hundred dollars worth of stuff via dial-up. I haven't even had a chance to make sure that every file was downloaded properly (already found one that wasn't), so I'm not in a rush to grab items that aren't on sale. It would be nice to have time to try out some of the products before getting a lot more. It's a nice deal by DAZ.

Yggdrasil, I bought most of Anton's stuff at full price before the Platinum Club was created. I also bought the Fairies at full price. The Camel at full price. Etc.. It hurts to see them at a couple bucks, or free. There are people complaining about paying 50 cents too much ("if I'd only waited"), when I spent hundreds of dollars. 🤷 However, I've had the use of them. They were fair value when I bought them. And I'm not going to whine or gnash my teeth or demand a refund... even of pennies. Carolly

I agree Carolly, I don't think I want to add up the total I've spent at DAZ over the years, and like you I got a lot of the current PC items when they were first released at full price. When I bought them I felt they were good value for money and I don't regret paying out that money. At the same time we have to admit Poser is an expensive hobby. I usually spend over $200 dollars at the various stores each month. So I'm not going to turn my back on anything that let's me squeeze that little extra out of the amount of money I have available. That's why I joined Platinum Club (and why I've got subscriptions to PoserWorld, PoserStyle and PropsClub as well). -- Mark

I was just on DAZ store, and looks like they've corrected the introductory sale issue (by moving back the closing dates), so Sarah Spriteling and the others are now back to their original discounts (not that that's going to stop me buying it, it still looks like excellent value). Mark

How good value is all this is? I am overwhelmed. I just got my telephone line fixed and what have I found - a SALE! Now that should mean savings except I will just spend twice as much coz it is SUCH A BARGAIN! Sigh! PS - I can not wait to get the new Ghost black characters downloaded - one of the publicity pics of the guys is bloody gorgeous! i know who will be testing those sexy leather jeans I have just got from PoserWorld!
