You can also try to make a whole wall using a terrain. You can even build a piece of wall stone by stone and lay it on the groundplane (the side of the wall that will be visible pointing at the sky) and make an altitude render from the top-view. Use this altitude render as displacementmap on the terrain and you'll have a whole wall made from one terrain. It'll save you lot's of memory and polygons.

uh..what about copy and paste? works for me..I use a 'guppy' method; copy one, make 2, grab 2, copy, make 4, etc., as needed. To be honest, there's some good textures out there that will make good castle walls, the trick is to establish a sense of scale proportional to how far away it is..the 'Installed' textures don't work all that well, I use one called 'brique', which, according to my database, doesn't have a URL..dangit. But look around, and that may help out. Castles are fun, I've made a couple..hope yours goes well too. take care.

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. I've installed the 5.01 patch now and that's sorted out the problem. As for the castle, at the moment I've got the foundations/floorplan built, as well as parts of the turrets and the roof. Just need the bit in the middle now. Any good building stone textures would be welcome, though :o)
Another benefit to the patch that you have installed is for trees. Next time you want to put a tree into a scene hold down the Alt key while clicking on the tree icon in the create pallette. A list of ready made trees will appear that are way better than the ones you will will find in the tree lab. For stone textures check out the following links. http://www.lemog.fr.st/ http://www.imageafter.com/index.php http://art.net/~jeremy/photo/public_texture/
