Subject: I Need Input on my First Poser made render

Hi,
This is the first real pic I've put together using Poser, and i was wondering what you think, any suggestions would be great as the great people on this forum that already suggested stuff really were useful.
Thanks
(P.S. I just realized how long it takes to render Victoria, I'd complain but she looks too damn real but is that normal, just wondering)

First thing I spotted was the absence of shadows. Assuming this is an indoor scene with overhead lighting, you should have harsh shadows cast on all lower surfaces (including Victoria herself). Next thing, I still say it looks too "clean", as if it's not been worn or used, but merely painted with dirty and grimy bits. The graffiti doesn't look "funky" enough, either. It's hard to describe, but it looks like it was drawn with a mouse or light pen, as opposed to a spray can. The Coca cola cup and lid are massively out of scale, likewise the cigarette carton. All in all, I think it's a great idea with lots of potential. You're doing a lot of things right, despite how you may feel about my comments. I hope you continue to show us your work.

I'd say some dirty smudges or dirt piles around the floor were called for - it seems odd to see a place that's run down and cluttered w/garbage and there be no dirt. There's a dark area towards the bottom middle of the image, but to me it looks like a shadow as opposed to dirt. Maybe also a few rat or mice or bugs, whatever. G I like the image setup tho - good assortment of elements about the room and good set up w/the props.

It is getting good :o) when that is said I must agree to most 0f what SamTherapy said, the dirt doesn't really look like dirt. Did you paint it on the texture or on the picture? The coke lid and cigarette pack IS out of scale, partly my fult, some of my early props are HUGE, my apologies :o) You need to get some shadows too, but I am the first to admit that Poser's lights and shadows are HARD to make good looking, that's usually my weak point in my pictures. I really like your room and the benches are a great touch. You're absolutely on the right track. Oh and Victoria is slow rendering, and her hair even worse. That's normal :o)

I agree witht he above posts...the lack of shadows does really jump out at ya. But also her pose is very stiff, and I doubt she would sit that way unless she has nasty cramps LOL ...maybe have her curl up against the window frame or something, to help make her have a scared and alone look. And walking around barefoot in a place like that, just aint healthy LOL

hmmmmmm may not be healthy but i have seen it done.. Maybe make her feet dirty too. If shes going around barefoot they'd be really grimy. dirty the floor definately

Thanks Guys, You're completely right about the dirt and the shadows and what not but how would you suggest the best way to do the dirt thing would be, it seems to be hard to make realistic dirt, for me anyway. Otherwise thanks for the input. Cheers

What I would do is look up grunge brushes for psp or photoshop (Which ever you use) and play with them They provide interesting effects

My 2 cents. If your rendering times are too long, don't use V's. For a figure at this distance you can use Posette or even the P4-Lo figures. At this distrance you really don't need the detail work that the V's offer. A light from above wouls do wonders for the reality. I'd do this first and then blend the dirt in in Photoshop or something. May I suggest a bump map on the floor and the walls? that brown area on the right wall spoils the whole idea. Great overall setting, and needs some scaling work between the different obj's. Greetings, and the bestof luck, Tony

There's certainly a story here - that is my deffinition of a good piccy - one that makes you think about what has happened, why it has and who they are. It does need some shadows though - they make so much difference. I like Vicky's pose - very vulnarable.
