You should try using a very high contrast fractal as a reflection map. It's not always immediately useful, but the effects can be "interesting". :)

The best method I've found is up on Traveler's site, in the tutorials section.Reflection maps are just images. Its a programming shortcut. Instead of working out the actual ray traced reflections it uses the reflection map instead. For example a picture of a wall with a window would work well as a reflection map on a glass vase in a room.

You can use any image for a reflection map. The effect will depend on the image, of course. I second the idea of using a fractal. It does give some VERY interesting reflective effects. Best suggestion is to just expriment with different kinds of textures and see how they work, how they end up looking, what effects you can get from them, etc. My personal opinion is that you learn more from fiddling and playing that from any other source. ;) bonni

Hi Again, Well, I just had a thought, how do I make a reflection map. Now if its too complicated you don't need to explain it b/c i probably won't get but i'd really like to know. Just forget that last sentence. I'd like to know, or do I just download a reflection map or what. Oh yeah, I want to be a reflection map so i can make a poser square to metally Cheers
