You might guess who is going to get these... These were actually fun to do, until I got to the laces. I've done laced-up shoes before, so I no about the problems (like the tongue and the lace-holes), but the only way I know how to make the laces is to make a path down the holes and then run a section of the lace down it. Sounds easy, but if you do that in Max it gets all twisted, you have to adjust the twist at each hole to keep the laces "flat" (I could have done round laces, but wrong style for this shoe). And if you adjust the path you have to readjust the twist, too. Then comes time to make the bow, bo great fun there, either! Anyway, what dio you think? I was doing to make wingtips, but I think that is better done with a bump map.

I think it looks great as is. So nice to see regular shoes for males. :)

So glad to see you do this Jim! They look great - would be specially nice if there were a P5 version with wingtip detail as displacement - with P5s micro-polygon displacement it would be as good as modeled and a fraction of the poly count. Poser men need your perfect touch!

Thanks guys!- Freebies, Gee, I do need to do some more Freebies, maybe after this set... What would you like in th eline of Freebies, bearing in mind I don't want to compete with myself? In th epast I've done things like a Civil War cannon, which I think is a super model, but seldom gets seen in renders. How about someting like a Golden Age racing plane (think Gee-Bee?). Problem with that is there isn't too much 20-30ish clothing around, maybe, but Freebies have to be fun for me to make, and different from what's around. Now that I think of it, I could do the plane, then SELL a clothing set for the pilot... ;-) I'll have to try the displacement mapping, I'm sort of a babe-in-the-woods when it comes to Poser 5 but I'd guess it could be done with the same map as the bump mapping. Poly count for the pair of shoes is just over 9,000, incidently, of which about 6000 is the laces. I might try Optimize on the laces to get that down a tad, but 9K isn't too bad, I think.

You know what I'd really like to see, Jim? A decent ponytail for M3. Something simple, with a low ponytail, near the nape, not that unlike the old P4 Male ponytail, but with some transmapping and texturing. Heck, maybe you could make it morph to V3, as well. She needs a decent ponytail, IMHO. (Oh, and the shoes are GORGEOUS. My husband's got a pair of dress shoes that look just like this, although not quite as shiny ;-) bonni
