(ready to toss it out already) Ok, info on the disk, if anyone's interrested. From thi sdisk, You can install anything that they currently offer, from plain C4D 8 to the ultimate mega pack, the Studio Bundle.. The Studio bundle with the appropriate manuals takes over 1000 mb in disk space, so that's up to you... I installed that version, and It still don't work on my pc. After calling tech support, and going through a list of standard troubleshooting questions (pc capacity all around) The tech determined that I must not have the newest version of Win 98 SE.... (like there is a newer version..LOL) I've got all the microsoft updates and what nots, but the C4D refuses to work, however I can use BodyPaint 3d, but I don't have poser, so oh well.... Anyhow, the disk rocks... not sure about the program...LOL digs way back into Bryce cause we know it's really better anyway JenC

I think I remember there being an A and a B version of Win98SE, or something like that, I had lucked out and had the "newer" version, when I used it.

I know one thing I always keep updated, even for Win98SE, was a core Windows component called MDAC.

You can also try having the latest I.E. browser, latest Direct-X, there are also some other core components listed at that MDAC link, you can always try installing those, can't hurt, I used to use install them, just in case.

There is also now the ".NET Framework". Who knows, you may need that; .NET.

Not truly sure if any of that will help you, but those are things I know that you can safely install as upadtes for Windows 98/98SE. AgentSmith

Thanks AS, just went and got that MDAC thing, and (maybe it will fix some of the bugs i got in this dern puter) but no luck in the C4d. Here's a screen cap of the error I get as soon as I click to open the program...Double click...error.... I've reinstalled it twice and even tried running it from disk instead of my hd like tech support said would work, and still no luck...lol I'm dooooomed....LOL

JC, Not sure on directx I think you might have problems with versions later than 7.x but I might be thinking of W95. I'm pretty sure Agent Smith was right about the A and B versions though; I think if that's the case you may need to start with the B version inorder for the updates to work properly with C4D. Something else: If the program runs(for example) MFC42.dll you might have the wrong version of the dll. That happened to me with TC 4.0 it took me years to get that one straightened out. I got a similar error to yours until I got a copy of the version that the program expected to see and put it in the directory TC 4.0 was in (not in windowssystem directory - that would mess you up for sure.) - TJ

I'm running dx8 on win 98 wih no probs, I'd go with the updates AS noted, although ignore the .net, it's only really relevant to people doing server/LAN/web stuff.
