Subject: Screaming...how do I parent something ??? P5

I have a figure, M3 , that is riding his favorite Harley Davidson. How do I parent him to the bike or vice versa so that when the bike moves, so does Mikey... I've tried parenting either object to one another but no matter what I do, when I move either of them, the other object stays there, so they get all out of position to each other...what a PITA quite frankly. I've tried using m3 hip, body, hands, etc to the object(bike) with no luck, and the bike to mike.... The thing that is troubling, I've been using Poser since V1 and have never had these types of problems...what the heck is going on ??? (i would prefer using harsher words at this moment, but keeping it clean for sake of others)...

Try turning off (Use Reverse Kinematics) To both Mike's legs. Then select Mike's Body and set the figure parent to the Bike object. Then when you move the object Mike should follow. If Reverse Kinematics are turn on (Checked) on his legs, he will not move with the object. It's a P5 Thing! It should be okay to turn back on the reverse kinematics after he is parented. Don't know why but it worked for me.

That is wierd. Don't have an answer for that one. I went and tried everything I could, it all worked. Maybe the Hierarchy Editor will work for you? Can't you child the bike to M3's hip. Just a guess.

Didn't see sirkrite's post. It's a habit to turn IK's off, must be why I've never had that problem. Good to know some of these handy tips.

What's funny is you can then delete the bike bring in another have the reverse kinematics turn back on and all will be fine. But delete Mike and bring him back in and you go though it again. P5 can be a bit quirky at times.

what's wheel weird, I had IK turned off, but it just doesn't seem to work... I'll start over from scratch...maybe something is corrupted in the scene or something...

Select the figure, Figure > Set Figure Parent then pick the bike. If the hands and feet dont follow, leave IK on and set the parents for each to the bike as well. ( Pick a hand or foot, Object > Change Parent and pick the bike. Repeat for all IK chains. ) Nerd

With some figures if you parent it to the BODY of something else, you have to move the body of that object. If you parent to the HIP you have to move the hip. So I guess if you parent the bike to Mike's hip you gotta move his hip for the bike to follow. Or if you parent it to Mike's body you have to move Mike's body.

I've no idea what's causing it, but how about adding a simple prop, make it invisible, and parent the bike & the figure to it. Moving the prop should move both figures.
