ok I found that link using a websearch I grabbed the file ok but my AV (AVP) says the exe inside the zip has a virus so be careful

I find that the link in the second item is to Renderosity. I suspect that you want the included one instead. You'll have to join Yahoo Groups to be able to get at it.

And the .EXE inside the .ZIP is infected with a Trojan virus. NAV could not repair the infected file, either.

Lawndart ( ) posted Tue, 07 October 2003 at 6:35 PM

The virus warning is a product of the installer it was made with. I actually contacted TBKoen about this problem. He said that it can't be fixed bit it isn't a virus. I installed it several months ago and have had no problems. Cheeers, Joe www.3-AXIS.com

As the installer is running, it asks for agreement to a license for some sort of player. I suspect that the player contains spyware, but I don't have a spare system here to allow it to install.

You do not appear to need to accept the license (and install the player) to have it unpack the files.

LawnDartLawnDart, have you run Ad-Aware on the system on which you ran the installer? (Did you accept the player?)

NightFlyer ( ) posted Tue, 07 October 2003 at 7:18 PM

my AV just tries to clean it and when it cant it deletes it....only way round that would be to pause my AV while I install it...and I aint doing that LOL

AVP gives this report TBKPREDATOR.exe Infected TrojanDropper.Win32.Joiner.a

Barryw ( ) posted Tue, 07 October 2003 at 7:22 PM

This was brought up waay long time ago when he origionally created it. It isn't a trojan or spyware or anything like that. It runs a little movie as it installs. I've installed it several times and it does nothing to your system.

NightFlyer ( ) posted Tue, 07 October 2003 at 7:31 PM

ok if thats the case can someone tell me how I keep it on my system when my AV keeps deleting it?

raven ( ) posted Tue, 07 October 2003 at 7:46 PM

Turn off your AV when installing, and immediately turn it back on after. The virus warning springs up because during install of the Predator files, an .exe file gets run at the same time. This .exe file is not a virus but a little animation of the predator. I have had this file on my computer for years and am not infected. I virus scan regularly, update my virus scanner every day, and run ad-aware daily. There is no virus in it. Scan your system after and the only warning should be the original zip file (like you get anyway).

ok I did that and it left a program running in my machine's memory called wowexec.exe (with a space at the begining) after a little research online I have found out that it is in fact spy/adware (without the space at the begining its a normal windows process file) read post 6 at this site

raven ( ) posted Tue, 07 October 2003 at 8:37 PM

I can honestly say I have never had that. I just did a search on my system for ' wowexec.exe' and '_wowexec.exe' and came up blank for both of them. I don't even have 'wowexec.exe' on my system either (Win 98). I do however, have 'wowexec.exe' on my XP Home system.

wowexec.com is not a trojan or spyware its part of windows. Its used for running 16 bit apps. I have the TBK Predator and it is virus free...

NightFlyer ( ) posted Tue, 07 October 2003 at 9:07 PM

read the above post again Wadus wowexec.exe is a windows process as I said but if it has a space or a _ at the beginning then its spy/adware

sturkwurk ( ) posted Tue, 07 October 2003 at 9:10 PM

I was in the middle of this whole problem years ago when it first happenned... TBKoen used an installer that freaked out Anti Virus apps. I had even gone to lengths at that time to create a 2nd version of the Pred. that didnt use his installer. The file was perfectly safe then, allbeit silly that he used that format to distribute the file. Do a search for the same topic in this forum, you'll find lot's of reading material. Doug

I came, I rendered, I'm still broke.

Wadus ( ) posted Tue, 07 October 2003 at 9:16 PM

sorry Night, I missed the part about the space in your post...

NightFlyer ( ) posted Tue, 07 October 2003 at 9:33 PM

LOL Doug I can well beleive it. I found a safe way round it all in the end all I did was install it to a dummy directory then rezip the files without the original exe...problem solved :0)

Just an FYI - This is a very good resource page if you're ever wondering what those programs on your tasklist are, and what exactly would be the best thing to do with them. I thnk that 'wow' stands for 'Windows on windows' and is started by 32 bit versions of windows when it is asked to load a 16 bit program. I'm unfamiliar with the version that has a spacing or _ in the name, thanks for posting about that!

NightFlyer ( ) posted Tue, 07 October 2003 at 9:46 PM

my pleasure and all this because someone asked for a link to the Prdator ROFL

nevermind BUT THANKS, I found it on cdrom I knew I had it stored on cdrom but nothings labled so I had to go look through about 50 cdroms to find the file, But here he is loaded and tweeked, I gave his body and mask some adjustments to make him look a little better. He kinda loads skinny and the mask loads a little too big I think, needs alot more dread locks that curve up behind the mask so you can see them over the mask in the back of the head once I finish my Alien Ill go ahead and make more dread locks for tbkoens preditor.

Bryde ( ) posted Wed, 29 October 2003 at 2:53 AM

Must be your connection...I am in there, no problems. But there are tons of porn advertisement messages now. I think TB Koens vanished and now the group is a playground for such folks. The model still is in the files section though - 17 megs big....

rrkknight3 ( ) posted Wed, 29 October 2003 at 3:39 AM

You have to join the Yahoo Group TBKoen for Yahoo to let you in. Have you done that? Sorry for asking the question if it is obvious...

biggert ( ) posted Sun, 02 November 2003 at 11:25 AM
