Subject: Two questions, hopefully no braines

Hi there If somebody could help me out on these fronts I'd be grateful: 1) I want to bevel the edges of a standard Boolean cube, the manual references a mythical menu called the Arrange menu to access the Bevel function. Where is this, either I'm blind as a bat or it's not there. 2) The product description page said there were various included presets for the non-photorealistic renderer. When I try to access the preset menu, it says I need to install the scene wizard, as I did a complete installation and the scene wizard is accessible if I start it from the File menu, surely I'm missing something again. The preset screen that appears in the non-realistic render screen is blank when clicked. Appreciate any help. best wishes Jody

Jody: There is an easy way to create a beveled cube in the vertex modeler. In the vertex modeler insert a cube by clicking on the left top icon and selecting a cube. Set the object definition to 3 in the properties window (you can set it to more but with 3 you get the desired effect and less polygons). Having all vertices selected go to the Select Menu and select Smooth Edges. Go to the properties window and under subdivision select smooth. A subdivision level of 2 gives you a smooth beveled cube. Now if you want your bevels to be more precise you need to work in the spline modeler. It has a bevel function, but with this function you can only bevel 8 sides of your cube. To create bevels for the other four you will have to modify the cross section. Hope this helps, azul3d

  1. The Arrange menu is in the Spline modeller. 2) I've not got the Rendering presets either. I guess it's something that got forgotten. If you're exploring the non-realistic rendering there are some presets incorporated into three of the scenes in the Scene Wizard. They're in the 'Misc' section. Also, if you are trying the settings for yourself, don't miss the brush presets. Click on the picture in the Brush box. HTH Mark

Thanks Mark I figured out the arrange thing, I was expecting it to be available for boolean shapes as well as spline, my mistake. In terms of the presets, they certainly appear to have forgotten them, which is a shame, as I am learning to use the modellers at the moment I didn't really want to also learn how the renderer worked, I just wanted to play around with the presets to see what it was capable of. Oh well, I'm sure it'll get patched or something. Best wishes and thanks Jody
