Subject: Where for art thou, Mover 5?

regaltwo ( ) posted Sun, 26 October 2003 at 8:07 AM · edited Tue, 24 December 2024 at 6:22 AM

As far as I can tell, Vue Pro isn't what I need, so there's no point in buying it. So the question is, does anybody here have the inside gossip on when Mover 5 (with it's reputedly wonderous ability to handle Poser 5 cloth and hair dynamics) will actually be released? Thanks.

I think you'd have to ask e-on software that question. Even if anyone here was beta testing it I'm sure they'd have signed a NDA.

Ummm, yah. Whatever. Since Vue is obviously not your kind of software, I hope you will be very happy over in the Max forum. Ciao. No known release date on Mover 5, R2. We only know about it because those who were so foolish as to squander our cash on VuePro saw the announcement in the manual, and what it would be capable of doing, in broad strokes. We don't even know if it will be compatible with the Esprit line of Vue software. You might want to hop on to the E-on site forum and see if someone there knows any more they can talk about.

I still use vue so I'll be in both forums Ciao

Interesting pov that the longer you wait between an announcement and the coming out the better. I waited 2 years for Poser 5 on my Mac - Curious Lab is therefore really brilliant company. Regarding dynamic hair - has anybody promissed that? I must have missed that. From an old support guy i learned once a golden rule. 95% of the problems sit in front of the monitor! Soooo right! One last question. Why are you using Vue still when it is so shitty? I never use programs that make me angry, all the time i start them. Simply delete them from my disks.

Wabe; Don't have the page number off hand, but in the Pro manual, where it is talking about needing Mover4 and making Pro happy with it, it mentions Mover 5 and its full support (including dynamics) for P5. Now if I had to take a wild guess, I would say it is going to work with the same limitations that Mover 4 has; ie. You have to create the full animation in P5, do the wind force there, and match the resultant animation to the Vue wind force effect. I would like to be wrong, as it would be less tedious to just whip up the dynamic hair & cloth and let Mover 5 do all the force vectors, but I don't expect miracles.

Well, i think i havent spoken about Mover 5. The complain was about buying Vue Pro with Mover 4. To your wish. As far as i understand, dynamic hair and clothes is a render effect in Poser 5. Not more. In fact, a 2D effect only. But because i decided not to update - after 2 years of waiting for the promised version on my platform, i am not 200% sure. Your wish is, that the importing software can do more than the original creating one? I am hoping too, but... An importing software can only read what is written into the files. Are you really sure, that all the 3D information is there? I am not. But. as i said, i hope i am wrong. Future will bring it. So it will bring Mover 5. The good thing is, between announcment and release, there will not be much time! As we have experienced it now. lol, Walther

No, Wabe, I'm pretty sure it's more than a render 2d effect, otherwise you wouldn't be able to export the resulting cloth as an object (3ds or whatever). Of course, exporting the object this way means you have to resize it and re-texture it in Vue, plus you can't do animation. But still, I'm pretty sure the effect is more than illusory. The problem is that without Mover 5, you can't just directly and fully import these "dynamitized" scenes into Vue. I checked the E-on site, and found nothing about a release date. BTW, I do agree with Purl. that Pro popped up out of nowhere, but that's a seperate matter. I think Vue is an amazing product, I just want it to marry itself to another great product, Poser 5, so I can hear the pitter patter of little animations. Thanks to everybody for their input:)

Hey wabe why do I get the sense the you are personally attacking me? Well anyway I've complained to e off they don't respond and pass the blame to someone else. My issue is surprise high upgrade price of VuePro when people had just bought Vue4 and the fact that it will cost us more to upgrade than if we jusr bought Vuepro. I guess there aren't many who fit this bill but I do and I feel manipulated.

grunthor ( ) posted Mon, 27 October 2003 at 1:53 PM

Well Purloinius, I'm guessing people get a bit defensive about this because your complaints aren't very tactful and in some cases are insulting. My question is if the price of V4P is too high then why buy it? Do you absolutely need the features in V4P or would Esprit suit you fine?

Dale B ( ) posted Mon, 27 October 2003 at 3:51 PM

On the issue of Poser dynamics; Dyanmic cloth is actual mesh deformation, I believe it is based on the Stitch plug in. The dynamic hair is a particle-based effect (in part, at least), can't think of the pre-existing plugin that it is based on, but this is known, used technology. Purloinus; Vue 4 Professional is not an upgrade. It has been clearly stated that it is a departure from the Vue d'Esprit line. Vue d'Esprit will have a Vue 5 release, as well as continued upgradespatches to Vue 4. Vue Pro will have its own feature set, and will no doubt grow to where the differences are rather profound. In that respect, E-on is only following the herd. Max and GMax. Maya and Mayalite. Cinema 4D-X and LX. And as with most companies that have such product divergence, they offered a reduced 'sidegrade' price to those owning the latest version of their main product. For a quick cash flow, no doubt. But also as a reward to those who chose them. There is a great deal of expertise around here, you know. Maybe if you asked, there might be answers to be found to your problems. Oh, and if you need Poser 4 to authorize import into Vue 4, you either (a) haven't installed the 4.2 update, which allows P5 to be authorized (the plugin actually has 2 core code sets, one for P4 one for P5. And you can change which executable is used by simply renaming the in use .exe's folder to something else and start Vue and do an import, so that Vue will ask you which Poser.exe you want to use) or (b) have had an accident with the update, and it failed for some reason. I've used both code tracks, and they work, at least on my machine.

Purloinius ( ) posted Tue, 28 October 2003 at 9:48 AM

vue is an upgrade just go to their site quickly because they are still trying to change it to say sidegrade like that would justify the inflated price of the same exact program with a same materials with a new tree editor just like Bryce 5. It's about time they caught up to Bryce 5. WAKE UP I"VE BEEN RIPPED OFF!!! This is so yesterday.

I've tried to stay out of this childish squable, but... You are aware, I assume, Purloinus, that no one here is actually employed by E-on? If you want to yell, yell at them. I started this thread just to get my question answered. Yet every time my email notifys me that someone has posted a response, I come here, only to find you posting another rant. Please start your own anti-Vue thread, and leave mine alone.
