Also, to note; Bryce re-sizes any pic that does not fit into its provided square dimensions (128,512,1024,etc). So pics that are not square AND do not match the given dimensions, will be re-sized to fit upon opening in the terrain editor. So, to get the clearest transfer from pic to terrain, work originally in square dimensions while matching the 512, 1024, pixel dimensions. If you can't do that, resizing the image before brigning into Bryce can also help in pixel clarity, although this isn't always needed to get a good terrain. Just FYI. AS

Also Zhann, when you get lattices that give kinda flat edges and you want a rounsed out type, hit dampen once or twice in that menu, it will soften the picture, and round out the "rails" of the fancy part of the lattice. I'm pulling out a pic now from Bryce that shows some differences in exporting...one sec
Well, Amapi and Truespace both refused to import the Bryce 3ds and obj files that I wanted to thin the polys on, so I'll keep trying till at least one imports them. I'm also trying to import the exported terrains and lattices into Vue, they should but I'm getting an 'unspecified error'. I can, however, import Vue exported terrains (.obj format) into Bryce no problem. I really like Vue's terrain editor, you get side view as well as top view.

Ooops, did I say Vue, uh, it was temporary insanity, I swear...;] Yeah, I have Vue too, I actually started in Vue and then switched to Bryce..... and Vue's terrain editor is kinda cool, I've created some great terrains in Vue then import into Bryce. I have both because I need to test my store stuff in both before it goes to the marketplace. Bryce will always be my true love.....but this polycount thing sucks....;]

hey Zhann? in Bryce if you click on that little preview window in the terrain editor, you can adjust which angle you look at your terrain from.... it even has a lil spin button on it... for lattices, i'm always tipping it forward so i can see it from the top..lol as for poly's...I been playing with cybermesh, but i can't seem to figure it out....(think i fried my brain cells readin bout all you lush's in that other post hehehehehe...either that or in wings...LMAO) If i get this thing figured out, i'll let ya know.. but from those results up above, if you go with HIGH poly's, there looks to be no reason to smooth too.... perhaps i can find a happy medium someplace...who knows... This is mostly for those who are new or are having trouble with terrains and lattices looking funky on import....
