Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 26 2:05 pm)
Yep. If you copy a body part in any version of poser, then paste into notepad, you'll get the info. Thing is, it doesn't give the full script of all the dials and values. Just the basic details, so it's not like you can do anything useful with it. Maybe in P5 you can. Most people forget copy/paste. It's really useful for posing or sending multiple figures/props to the same location. mac
I'm one of those people who hasn't got into cut 'n' paste yet, though I'm sure it would be useful. I'm just not sure where it can be used, and given Poser's propensity for going "bang!" I don't want to experiment while in the middle of a big project (which is when I usually think about it). If you have some easy beginner's guide to what you can do, and what you can't, I'd be interested to see it.
Dials can be copy-pasted. Click on top of the dial (where the name of the dial is) then hit Ctrl-c. Then get whatever dial you want to paste it TO and hit Ctrl-v. Your dial settings are now pasted to the new dial. You can also use the menu, I think it's in Object, and choose Copy and then Paste. Sometimes the Ctrl c /ctrl v doesn't work (it doesn't work with the DROPS python script for instance) but using the menu works fine. And if you want to make symmetric drops characters it's the easiest way to do it. The of course afterwards you'll have to alter the x-trans or whatever axis you want it to be symmetric around, but..it works :o) And it has never crashed my Poser ... yet. knocks on wood

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA
Using Poser since 2002. Currently at Version 11.1 - Win 10.
Bob, I mainly use copy/paste when I'm moving things around. If I want to send 10 figures or props to the same location, somewhere way off center, I just ctrl-c BODY on the 1st one, then ctrl-c each new figure as I open it. The same applies to scaling/rotation. If you need 10 boxes which are thin and tall, scale the 1st one, then copy to the next 9. They'll all be identical. It's handy for poses too. You may like the arm from one pose, but not want to apply the full pose. So you use copy/paste to take the pose from the arm and paste it to another figure altogether (or to the other arm of the same figure). Sometimes you have to reverse values, like 90 degrees on one arm may mean -90 on the other, but it's easy enough to spot. LOL. No danger of poser crashing. In fact, it's one of the few areas in which poser actually behaves itself. mac
Yep, bob. I know the feeling. I'm always trying things that don't work, then discovering months later that they do, and I just didn't do it right or something. A few weeks back I posted a mini-tute here on making collapsable accordian-type doors inside poser using the box prop, and it was basically done using by copy/paste to get all the boxes into position. It's one of these things you tend to use then forget about, then suddenly remember again how useful it can be. mac

Earlier I was playing with Poser 5, used the copy and paste feature to clean up some areas on my figure. Fine. I loaded up MSWord to write a letter and decided to do a cut and paste job and lo and behold! if the cut and paste data from my earlier Poser 5 editing session dropped into my letter. So remember- it's all TEXT!
