Dina V has around 113,000 polygons while Vicki 3 has around 75,000. Dina V doesn't can't use Poser 4 style conforming clothing for Vicki 3, though it may be possible to use Poser 5 dynamic clothing on her. There is also a figure called Vina D, which can wear clothing for Victoria 1 and 2. Vina and Dina can use the same morphs and textures. Dina and Vina are also fully anatomically correct. A lot of people were unhappy with Dina's looks when she first came out, but there have been some very cool characters released for her, such as Handspan Studio's Giselle, that are quite beautiful.I picked up Dina V for $10 when she was on sale last year. She doesn't have very many morphs compared to V2 much less V3. I've used her in a few renders, but the major lack of free stuff, makes her not very useful. While based on a real woman, I find Dina's build a bit... superheroic, in the chestal area and she has linebacker shoulders If you want to make your own morphs with a 3d app her higher poly count "might" be a boon, but over all V3 owns her in every category.... except one. Dina comes anatomically correct out of the box, while Vicky doesn't. so if your ambition is to make naughty pictures of mostly naked Dinas, and or are a whiz with magnets she may be worth getting. Not suprisingly most of the decent Dina renders I've seen have been of an erotic nature.
Vicki 3 does have genital morphs. They're in her body morph pack. Or so I've heard. :)

"Vicki 3 does have genital morphs. They're in her body morph pack. Or so I've heard. :) " Sort of. There's a couple of dials for "Gen Crease" which gives V3 the appearance of outer labia. Not really suitable for naughty pics, though. :)
Coppula eam se non posit acceptera jocularum.
I don't know, lesbentley. An out of the box Judy is pretty scary. So's LaRoo and Trixie... Amazing what morphs can do though. :)

I think it all comes down to available products, and Vicki wins that hands down (unless all you want are nudes, and then you can get into the morph war, but you still have the textures thing to look at). This is first time I've even seen mention of Dina/Vina/whatever in months, maybe even a year.
It's difficult to go a day without seeing a Vicki topic, let alone a V3 topic.
I agree that Dina is a tad uggers.. But it might be the case that we are used to seeing extremely attractive female characters about and the more everyday faces now seem ugly. Saying that I almost exclusivly use V3, so i'm guilty of falling prey to the unabtainable beauty that V3 and other characters can produce.
falling prey to the unabtainable beauty that V3 and other characters can produce.
Oh, I don't know that V3's beauty is truly unobtainable. There ARE "real women" in "real life" that actually look like V3. And they do so naturally.
Most men don't resemble M2's or M3's out-of-the-box physical perfection, either. But that's the ideal.
And, so long as one is portraying a fantasy, why not?
There are no overweight / unattractive people on many TV shows. Including on news programs -- which are supposed to be "real". It's amazing just how many "political experts" these days are leggy 20 to 30-something blondes.
Perhaps V3 has a bright future as a news anchor.
PBM, Dina has a certain look about her, an unlife-like look that I find deeply disturbing. It's kinda the same feeling I have when I look at a catfish.
Oh, I do not eat fish just for this reason.
Judy has a bit of the same thing going for her. I think these 2 figures could have gone quite far if they were, "out of the box", a little more appealing.
Not fashion model, or beauty queen, just a simple touch of "girl next door", elegance or "average ordinary beauty" may have made these two hits.
Oh, V2 "out of the box" is a little manly/transvestite looking with those eyebrows too.
I think the whole deal starts with the introduction, the base.
People will not play with ugly for too long.
Make them appealing, and others will make them even more appealing.
Something that is hard to look at is hard to work with.
Hell I should know, I'm ugly.
Some of you have seen my butt already...
...My face is much the same, only hairier.
Dcort might have to help me on this one...but soon after DinaV was released so was a texture called Katia for her. I believe it was done by HandSpanStudios? But whatever, it did give her a more pinup type look. There was also a morph released, I believe as a freebie someplace that took the manly appearence out of her shoulders. Just as you can't judge a book by the cover, most all Poser characters can't be judged on how they look 'straight out of the folder' ... that is where the creator loses control and the artist's creative magic takes over.
its weird though when it comes to rendering......DinaV has 110,000+ facets and V3 75,000+ but with just the bare figures loaded and nothing more, DinaV renders a lot faster than V3 in P5 SR3! hmm....id like to think thats not possible but it is!! wonder why? can anyone explain this? try it...load a bare DinaV base and render....do the same for a bare V3 base. both figures have hi-res textures loaded.... my specs 1 Gig Celeron 512 MB 32 MB VRAM Win 98 SE dont laugh.....this computer can actually run P5 and do renders!! ;)
I'm not sure about the rendering time issue. Maybe it has something to do with the Vicki 3 .cr2 file, which I think is more complex than Dina's. The lack of free and commercial products is a problem, yes. Basically people go for what's most popular, so they make stuff for Vicki. I am only one guy. I can't do it all myself. I have released free morphs on my site to tone down Dina's top-heavy look. Katia is another of Handspan's great characters, yes. There are more Dinas out there than people realize, and I think other vendors could do well making stuff for her. Dina does have her fans, and they would like more stuff! After all this time, though, I'm sorry but I don't buy the arugument that it has to be an either/or question. Now we have a flood of new cartoonish characters who are not Vicki, and I haven't heard any gripes about lack of free stuff, clothing, textures, etc. for them. People buy them in addition to Vicki, so why not Dina or Natalia, too? Some of these cartoon girls are outright scary, too, in terms of looks. Dina, by the way, has MODELED genitals. This is not the same thing as a morph. A morph just moves around existing polygons. It can't create what isn't there. I just see newbies confuse these things sometimes so I wanted to clarify that. Anyway, if there's one thing I've learned it's that you can't please everybody, and that's okay. So feel free to hate Dina if you like. Totally cool with me.
ok, I think this is all getting a bit one-sided. Now I feel bad about my own unflattering comments about Dina, but I was shooting from the hip. Truth be told, she does have a homely face. However, Dcort is one of the best merchants in the community and he has produced a solid figure in Dina. She poses well, and I find her figure to be refreshingly realistic compared to Vicki's amazon proportions. There is a good deal of clothing available for her, as well as some very ATTRACTIVE characters made by handspan and others. So she might not be the universal figure that V3 has become, but I think theres plenty of room in the poser universe for her. Not everyone renders V3 naked in a temple holding a sword...some of us still use V1/V2, posette and why not Dina?
I completely agree with you Dcort :) I like both Dina and Natalia and would use them a lot more if there were other textures available for them. Maybe if someone like Catharina, Anton, or SteffZ made content for them there would be much more interest. I know Catharina and Anton have both struck out on there own. It might be a factor of merchants not thinking the interest is sufficient to have new textures for either Natalia or Dina.
----------------------------------------- After all this time, though, I'm sorry but I don't buy the arugument that it has to be an either/or question. ----------------------------------------- I agree with Dcort very much..... i love my DinaV.....besides all you have to do to solve the lack of free stuff is to modify the stuff you already have to fit Dina. For example, i just found out last night that P4-based shoes can easily be resized to fit Dina!!! =) her body is also better than V3 after you apply the body and face morph updates!! in short, there's something about Dina that appeals to me very much, that's the reason why i shelled out some bucks for it. thanks for your input all!!
I bought Natalia when she was first available at Daz3D...I couldn't rationalise spending the extra money to invest in Dina when she came out, but...other than Dacort, Victoria's Style, Morris, Handspan Studios and a few others I for the life of me cannot remember, not many other people have taken advantage of the huge market opportunities in making textures and add-on products for these two gals. In my humblest opinion the marketplace is flooded with textures for V1/2-3...they are all wonderful products but I wish merchants would load up either Natalia or Dina give them a second chance :o) Alright...just my $0.02.

hi all!! theres this character called DinaV and has a lot more facets than V3.....but it doenst seem to be as popular as V3.....which do you think is better? and does it accept V3 clothing? or is it pretty easy to modify V3 clothing to fit her? just curious..... thanks again all!! =)
