Subject: Renderosity Customer Service: Always Striving for the Best!

LillianH ( ) posted Mon, 08 December 2003 at 3:41 PM · edited Sun, 06 October 2024 at 10:31 AM

For the past three years Renderosity has conducted annual Buyer Surveys which indicate an overall 97% positive satisfaction rate when purchasing through our MarketPlace. We want buyers to have a good on-line shopping experience in the MarketPlace by providing outstanding customer service!

During the recent Spotlight with Tim Choate, President of Bondware, our community voiced an area of concern to buyers and requested a change. We heard you.

Based on community suggestions and input, we have chosen to offer exchanges for products, which we have found reasonable grounds to believe that a copyright infringement has occurred.

Effective for purchases starting December 1, 2003, Renderosity will issue a gift certificate for the full amount back to the buyer when a product is believed to contain a genuine copyright concern.

We want buyers to have 100% confidence when they buy from Renderosity. This enhancement will help buyers feel secure when they make a purchase from the Renderosity MarketPlace!

Hi Lillian. I have a question about this. When I questioned Tim about it he said those that had bought products pulled because of copy right concerns would receive gift certificates to compensate. This a great policy and I am happy to see it but what about the ones we bought in the past?

kayjay97, Please send the info on the purchase(s) in question to copyrights@renderosity.com and we'll consider issuing a GC for that amount. Tim

Only for purchases after Dec 1st? I was under the impression it would cover past problem purchases as well.

Ah, sorry. I didn't notice kayjay had basically asked the same question. Thanks.

Sorry, Tim, but this "policy" sucks. A gift certificate is all well and good, but the customer should automatically be refunded his/her money, with the certificate as an option that he chooses, not is chosen for him. One of the mods in the Copyright forum said that this was prefered because of all the various ways people have of paying. Hate to say it, but tough. A credit card refund isn't that difficult to execute, neither is Paypal. But regardless of how inconvenient it might be for Renderosity, a refund should be the first option, not a certificate.

At this point I would be happy to have an answer to my emails

I don't know Joey - I think a gift certificate is preferable to nothing at all, which was the previous policy ;)

Am I the only one who felt my intelligence was insulted by this announcement? I mean, I've seen Renderosity chase away a large number of their successful merchants with contract changes. I've personally joined many others in forgoing Renderosity's store in favor of cheaper and more buyer-friendly venues whenever I can. I've witnessed Renderosity in the past expressly refuse to give refunds in the case of copyright infringement and fraud. I've read an admin or mod's statement that the Renderosity store is swiftly getting to the point where it costs more to run than it brings in. And they think I'm going to believe that they JUST NOW realized some consumers have an issue here and so they're immediately jumping to remedy that? I mean, it's great that they're finally doing something, but I don't think they really get to claim brownie points for "hearing us" when we've been shouting for two years. Just me.

Fyrespiryt, you do bring up some good points. I too have been buying mostly else where but at this point I am just happy I got some kind of reimbursment.
