So far the most foolproof method was to export as 3DS, convert it to .obj (I use 3D exploration for that - you can find it here: http://www.xdsoft.com/explorer/ ) Now, I have also heard that if you open the .obj file in a text editor and change all the l lines to f lines you will retain the hairiness ??? Not sure of this as I haven't tried it myself. That's about as intelligent as I'll get before coffee :)
