Subject: Where is your first Poser scene?

A few posts down, a member posted his/her first rendered Poser scene. It is great to see a new member's 'first' on Renderosity. At one time, we were all new to Poser and felt this sense of accomplishment. For me, it was in 1996 with this scene (though it's really not my actual first) using Poser 1, Strata Studio Pro and Photoshop 3 on a MacII FX. That was when Lens Flares ruled the universe. To all members, my question is, what version of Poser did you start with, when, what hardware did you have at the time and do you still have one of your first renders?

Wishing everyone a safe and happy holidays!

This is the oldest one I can find. This one is 5.5 years old from Spring of 1998. I used Poser2 female in Ryadream because Poser doesn't support reflections...even back then. Remember thinking "Oh there must be reflections coming up in P3!" :) Anyway. I was into Batgirl at the time and made the Mechbot myself along with her hair(no trans) etc etc. There was no clothing then so the suit was a texture with props attached. Forgot I still had these. Was on a floppy. lol

I'm not sure when I started this. Somewhere not long after Poser 4 came out I think. I saw that program and thought WOW I gotta try that :) It was in my Bryce period, so all my early renders are made in Bryce. This one is uploaded to another (old) site I have in april 2000 so it's probably a few months older. Not my *first* render but one of the first at least. The Trek uniforms are painted on the base textures, then they wear pants to get the flare at the legs. But the tops are simply painted on.

I don't have any of my real early renders. At the time I was trying out different techniques and getting used to the software. All the images were WIP, so I never kept them for longer than a week or so. I experimented with lights, poses, camera angles and focus, composition, textures, you name it. I started in 3D around April 2002. The first pic I felt happy enough with to post was "BlackFlame", still here in my gallery. Posted Dec 10, 2002. As far as I'm aware it's the oldest render I have. I used (and still use) P4PP. The computer is the same machine, too. Athlon 1800+ 1GB RAM.

Well, I'm not sure if this was my very first, but if it wasn't, it was close. It wasn't that long ago, actually - rendered in Pro Pack, a little over a year ago. It was for the cover of a fanzine. Actually, I didn't want an angel on the cover, didn't think it would work, and thought a quick and dirty Poser render would prove my point. Unfortunately, it had the opposite effect -- everyone liked it so much they insisted on using it. :-P I was really impressed by kalisperas' first render, BTW. It's pretty elaborate for a first effort. I am convinced that there are so many NVITWAS pics because so many newbies can't figure out how to dress her...

This is a great idea for a thread! This is my first "real" scene in poser..with not just a character standing in some pose.. Posted Jul 9, 2002

That's one of Questor's Terminator endoskeletons. In retrospect, I'm amazed that I successfully completed that render, given the mesh's high polycount and my underpowered system at the time.

Yes, I was experimenting with animation from the very beginning ....

My first "real" image using poser - Poser 4, Crossroads and Povray 3.1 rendered on my old 800 MHz Athlon T-Bird. It was an IRTC entry in May-June of 2002. The topic was dreaming. It didn't score very high, but really got me hooked on the CG thing. The "Puzzled" image in my gallery is my latest using Poser (Poser 5, Poseray & Povray 3.5).

Here's my first real Poser render. Most of what is in this picture I modeled myself in the Play version of Amorphium. :)

This is my first render using a Poser figure that can be seen. It was rendered in Ray Dream and is about the 4th 3D image I have created. It was rendered in 1997. Only the head was from Poser (1 or 2). The rest I modeled. Today it seems pitiful and needs serious post. :)

This was done Sep 16 2002 at 4:53am, probably about 12 hours after getting Poser4. It's supposed to be Lady Godiva-- the background photo is of old Coventry cathedral, found on the web. I had some prior experience working in 3d, since I also own Hash Animation Master. I like its lighting capabilities, cameras, and renderer better, but haven't had much luck importing Poser figures into it.

This is the first image I actually completed from 2 years ago. I'd had Poser 4 and Photoshop for about 7 months. Its V2, I had no hair or clothes I liked, only the default ones that came with Poser and I didn't know about Renderosity. I was very proud of the columns I made myself ! It was my first uploaded image here in Sept 2002.

Here is one of my first official image I made December 1998. Poser4 standard female. I remember that I was not going to a B-D party because I got my new poser a short time before from Metacreation, I make a screen captures from a video of a face and created the funny little textures using only mouse for poser4 female and this is what I got after long hours this night.. :)and I was really proud of myself..

Never really finished it, but it was my first try at a 'scene'. Blood and a background was going to be added in bryce. I stopped here cause Bryce wouldn't open the .obj file. Looking at my gallery I've certainly improved a little. At least now I finish them.

Here's mine from late '99. Everything in the scene is from Poser4. I was really proud that I used Poser primitives to make the wall and molding.

nomuse ( ) posted Mon, 22 December 2003 at 7:17 PM

The first rendered output I had was from a demo of Poser3 and I didn't save it. This is the first image I actually completed and put up that had some Poser in it; (Bryce render, Poser3 head, everything else built in Ray Dream). http://home.earthlink.net/~nomuse/brycepages/bigoutrage.JPG

I haven't got the history that everybody else has, but this was the first image I did for Halloween this year. Since I'm trying to keep things simple, it's a complete image rendered in Poser 5 with a quick Photoshop color adjustment and a painted shadow under the arm.
