Subject: Loading props in DS - external geom only

maclean ( ) posted Fri, 26 December 2003 at 4:05 PM · edited Thu, 28 November 2024 at 12:10 PM

As far as I can see, only props with external geometry will load in DS. Every prop I've made myself (external geoms) loads perfectly. And other people's props with internal geometry (customGeom) gives me the 'unexpected' error. This also applies to .pz3 files with props, which might explain why a lot of people are having problems. mac

Daz does external prop files via a text editor. I have told them no one else does this since Poser cannot do it natively. Will be interesting to see what happens with this. By testing only store products, they might not yet realized the legacy issue.

Anton, They'll have to realise it sooner or later. I'll be filing a bug report once I feel I've had enough time to discover all the issues, and that will definitely be in it. It may not be an issue for DAZ products, since they insist on all geometry being external in brokered products too, and it certainly isn't a problem for my own products. But they're are 1000s of modellers out there who use customGeom and DAZ needs to take that into account if they want to keep the users happy. mac

PS I'm fairly sure that a lot of the problems with .pz3s not opening properly in DS is due to included props with customGeom. mac
