I did rig up a Weather Kit (python) that produces moving rain, snow, and hail. Not volumetric, though....

The weather kit isn't just for animating; it will automatically create a single-frame "sheet" of rain if your frame-count is 1.

Forestor sells a rain prop set in the MP.It might have been from last year's chirstmas giveaway there. I just tossed them all in my christmas folder, and forgot about them. I was poking around with them this year, stumbled across the zip file, and installed it. There's no read me in the zip, so I don't know if it can be given away or not. It might have been in last year's christmas freebies, or it might have been something I bought on sale. I'll check with them for ya!
Way too many people take way too many things way too seriously.
Ok, I looked more at the zip file.. on the sign somewhere is a message that the north pole was discovered by Pooh.. was there a poser artist called Pooh? I emailed Rdna, to see if it could be addd to thier freebies, or to see if it's safe to redistribute it.

This is what I get when I do a search for snow prop. I should have that somewhere if it was a freebie from last Christmas though. Marque >tends to be a bit of a packratHey guys, that was Traveler's freebie from the 2002 RDNA giveaway. Tis a very cool prop!

I think this is a tongue-in-cheek reference to Winnie the Pooh ;-)

Yes, Judith beat me. That was last year's 13Days of Christmas. You might be able to custom make a new transmap and turn it into rain? Try making smaller dots, maybe teardopped shaped but about half to one-third the size of the snow trans and perhaps add a slight bluish tint? Just a thought. Love that prop! Used in in my Centaur Patrol image ;p I have Ockham's weather-kit too, just haven't had the chance to try it yet, but it looks Very promising and would save having to re-do Traveler's transparancy. Use the link and go to his second page in the FreeStuff!:chuckle: Snow itself is extremely hard (at least the stuff in the Sierras... quite wet and heavy). I thought that I'd nabbed everything last year from the RDNA Christmas giveaway, but can not find the snowland prop. I'm a packrat, too, but moving stuff between dying computers has probably resulted in whole folders vanishing. I had Renderosity's stuff all in one folder, too, and it seems to be missing as well. Oh, well, I'm glad for the generosity, because there really is a lot of free stuff in my files. Traveler has said that he is redoing the Props Club to be more website based, and he is bringing back more goodies for the archive. Perhaps there is a chance that this will be one of them? Carolly
I'd drop him a message or make a wish in RDNA's Wishlist forum. He's real good at keeping up with what people ask for. Since old Father Winter is just now getting here he may even have a newer, more advanced design in the works. Ya, that snow and ice can be wicked. I remember a few years back when making a winter skydive and we hit an 'ice sheet' at about 9,000feet. When we got down we all had tiny blood driplettes on our faces. Looked like a slight case of road rash!
Yikes! I'd never thought about hitting ice while falling like that. :shiver: One of my better memories is of a magical late fall afternoon up in Tuolumne Meadows. The snowcloud rolled towards me as I stood there and then I was immersed inside a world of swirling snowflakes. Not any old snowflakes, but huge silver-dollar sized snowflakes. I don't remember being cold at all. Carolly
I think the oddest weather I have ever seen was in Georgia, Ft. Benning. One side of the parking lot could be dry as a bone in basking in sunshine while the other side is hidden behind a wall of pouring rain - really, hidden I mean, a person would walk out to their car on the other side and litteraly vanish right into it! But then I have yet to see anything as wonderous as a mid-winter's morning in Dexheim, Germany when I would look out my apartment window and the entire valley looked like it was sculpted from solid ice; trees, ground, buildings, everything...like right out of a fairy tale novel!

I was playing woth Rdna's freebie volumetric snow, and was wondering, has anyone created free volumetric rain?
