When the DAZ Studio Animation Module gets activated this will be HOT for doing animations! I can take these right into StageTools and SWISH for immediate Flash Animations with titles, effects, etc.!
Playing with Diffusion, Specularity and light directions in OpenGL allow you to see how its going to look first. Then maybe a spot render on a certain area to check the effect- then RENDER.
Bill and Toon Kitten are Toon NATURALS! Both render like REAL animation cartoon characters- this will be great for doing animations! MilCat with a texture takes on more of an Illustration-Look, while the cyclorama doesn't change very much because of the way the Toon Shader evaluates lines and surfaces.
BTW- I have both Stewer's Toon Shader and Mazak's free shader- offered in this forum for about 15 minutes (heh- you had to be FAST!) and they are indentical. Buying this one from the REN Store for $5 is still a REAL DEAL!
I will be re-paying Stewer's and Mazak's countrymen when I buy my new BMW made from using this Tooner!
Since in this ALPHA version of DAZ Studio (which has only very basic features implimented at this point prior to Beta)
there is no provision yet for Third-Party shaders, etc. So to use it you must disable the DS shader and replace it with Stewer's. It's extremely simple and his readme tells you how to do it. Personally what I did was this:
Made a directory in my Daz Studio Shaders folder called Stewer and placed it in there. Then I just place a "#" in front of the dzdefault.sdl (as #dzdefault.sdl) and then copy his into the shaders folder. When finished TOONING, just delete his "dzdefault.sdl" and remove the "#" from the original DAZ dzdefault.sdl. This way you can easily switch back and forth between them as needed.
Toon Shaders and other effects will likely be activated either by Python, or perhaps in the Surfaces Menu of DAZ Studio by Version 1, I would think. In the meantime, this new shader provides for me another reason why I am really excited about using the great render effects in DAZ Studio!
It's nice Veritas. And I have been playing around a little with it too. But it really isn't POSER, so some may be confused ;o) But it's great, isn't it? :o)

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA
Using Poser since 2002. Currently at Version 11.1 - Win 10.

For 5 Bucks, you can't go wrong. I've already made my money back about 400 times (heh!) DAZ Studio is WAY BETTER than most people here yet know or can understand, I guess. First off- people need to FORGET ABOUT POSER and just look at Daz Studio as a 3D model access and rendering software. It's aleady REALLY GREAT for this, even in Alpha. I have brought in HUGE Models and scenes and they render wonderfully. Toon shaders and inkers can run $100-400 in higher end software. Stewer's Toon Shader is only a BASIC 101 toon shader, but far better stuff is certainly in the works- so it will only get better! Meantime- this one works.Attached Link: http://brian.curiouslabs.com
Here's my first render using Stefan's toon shader. Very cool. One thing I noticed with the scene when I imported the P4 scene into Alpha DS is that something changed the position of the figure's feet. I mentioned this to Nostfiratu and he said that is something with the weight maps, DAZ is working on. -DefaultGuyThis site uses cookies to deliver the best experience. I was so happy about the spot render that I forgot to fix the Dragon's tongue, which protrudes through his head. I'm now re-rendering him at 4000x4000 and will definately be "using" this image (heh-heh).
