Subject: a carrara qeustion??

is it posible to fade in and out an object in carrara..insted of just using the no visable key but actually fade in and out an object in the scene.. eg..star trek -beemimg captain kirk to another planet..only example i could think of epsilon-graphix epsilon :)

You could use transparency for the object and increase the "ammount' over time. Could also use a gradient in the shader to control transparency from top to bottom etc. Could even map a movie of a graduated gradient to the transparency channel to make a graduated fade effect.

You could also use the dissolve modifier on the object & have look like it's dissintegrating.

Hi epsilon, i think the best way to achieve that effect is to put a "multi channel mixer" in your shader . Put your shader in "source 1", a transparent material in "source 2", and a value in "blender" . Then, move that value slider to see the fading effect . This way, you only have to animate the slider .
