Subject: Cat suit for AnimeDoll and MayaDoll in the works

insomniaworks ( ) posted Wed, 21 January 2004 at 12:33 PM · edited Sat, 09 November 2024 at 10:31 PM

I am just anouncing that I am working on a cat suit for Animedoll and MayaDoll. It has been in the works for about 3 or 4 days now and I expect to have it in the market place with in three weeks. I will say little about it now, but it will be loaded with plenty of extra gimmics. I will be keep you posted.

nomuse ( ) posted Wed, 21 January 2004 at 4:32 PM

Cool! This could be the single most useful thing done for this figure. A properly mapped catsuit could be the base of a million characters.

insomniaworks ( ) posted Thu, 22 January 2004 at 5:39 PM

Thank you nomuse, the main reason I am posting this message is because, incase someone else is working on the same thing, they can let me know. Its comming along great and I am planning material zones right now. It will be pantyhose, (because I am putting feet into it), stockings, gymsuit and pantyhose, - I am also putting in a zone to make it breastless. I am planning various trims that can be turned on and off via transparency also. marty

nomuse ( ) posted Thu, 22 January 2004 at 6:22 PM

Looks nice. If you've got the polys, make it possible to add more wrinkles around the joints. I know these can be done in bump, but real geometry is so much nicer! And of course the more figure morphs the better.

insomniaworks ( ) posted Thu, 22 January 2004 at 6:57 PM

I think I did what I can with the wrinkles, its a matter of give and take and not always possible to get it perfect as far as wrinkles go. So, what I am saying is, these are the wrinkles. They are the best I could do. By the way nomuse, a well layed out texture map is a high priority on this project.

I'm still watching...(smile).

Excellent work, as usual, Marty. I really like the fact that you put the feet and toes to this catsuit : this is a really really great idea !

Many of those boarders in the MAT zones have to be straiter I know, this is just a general layout. I am going to do some more adjustments to the mesh before redoing the mat layout perfect. Here is what the mesh looks like, I have been experiementing in a way to cut the mesh in the nurbs modeling software so I have smoother cuts where the groups boarder one another. Like I said before, modeling for poser is a balancing act, its a real art. You can't do everything that you want. This is the first time I ever got my method to work with out adverse side effects. The real trick is to do those cuts and make them invisable in the working poser model. Well, what I am saying the side effects have been minimalized by balancing several aspects so the method seems to be working for the first time. I attempted it on my MiniDress and it didn't work there, but I have learned a few things since. I couldn't do some cuts like up seperating the collars from the breast, becuase that cut really puts a distortion between the breasts. This is experiemntal and I don't know if I will try it again in my next project, we will see how it goes this time. marty

Oh, Gosh, Got about 40 hours into this I would expect. Here is what I have so far, I have autogrouped her in poser to do some rough posing. I have been seperating MAT zones and still have work to do on them. I then played with the MAT zones a bit to come up with one possible combination.

Now we're getting somewhere!

file_94462.jpg

Grouping this model has been a breeze. It is fitting like a glove with very few problems right off the bat. I don't think I every had this much ease in making a peice of clothing fit a character. Anyway, its comming along very smoothly. I am looking for a few beta testers already! The beta will be indeed that, a beta. It will not be complete for the first testing, but it will be damn near. I am interested in getting feedback from my testers on how the MAT zones or Trims could be improved. Of course my beta testers will get the finsihed package for no charge. I expect to have this product submitted in 6 days which should be a breeze at this point (I hope). Thank You marty

ChuckEvans ( ) posted Sat, 24 January 2004 at 12:10 PM

I would be glad to B Test but I'm no good at it...so I'll just wait to spend my money...hehe.

compiler ( ) posted Sat, 24 January 2004 at 1:15 PM

You can count me in already ! I'd be delighted to test this outfit.

insomniaworks ( ) posted Sat, 24 January 2004 at 6:28 PM

The uvmapping on this project is giving me a little trouble. I am not going to be able to uvmap it the way I hoped. It still will be uvmapped well, but thats why it isn't ready yet for testing tonight:( Maybe by tomorrow. Maybe tomorrow marty

-Yggdrasil- ( ) posted Tue, 27 January 2004 at 7:38 AM

Add me into that beta if you're still looking. I just got DAZ|Studio also. ^_^ Lemme know.

insomniaworks ( ) posted Tue, 27 January 2004 at 10:55 AM

So many people are asking about testing now. So many people are writing me mail now that I have posted a picture of the product to be in the Product Showcase Gallery. Thank you for your voiceing your interest in this product. I thank every one of you and the interest is inspiring a great product in many ways. I am sorry to say, but too many people want to test, I will be choosing only a few of those who have worked closley with me from the beginning. The package is being worked on right now by two other specialists. "Ynsean" who calls RuntimeDNA her home is a specialist in UVmapping. She is laying out a uvmap so professional and amateur texture makes alike will find this easy texture. "Shadownet" is tweeking and adjusting Joint Parameters so they can be the best they can possibly be. After I get it back in the next day or so, I will then make some more adjustments. It will then go out to the texture makers, and testers as well as to "Khrys" who will add his series of body morphs to the outfit. This is my first team effort and I think it is an important positive step for the future of my products. I want my products to be higher quality still than they already are. I feel that the only way to achieve this is with a team effort. If you have expertise you think you can lend to my products, please contact me. thank you marty

I will be posting updates to the following Product Developement Thread. http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?ForumID=12413&Form.ShowMessage=1636389 Thank You marty

I'm glad things are looking positive for the suit, Insomnia. Hoping all the collaboration and team effort work out well, too! If I understand it right, that will be a good thing if it works on the things Khrys has done.

AlleyKatArt ( ) posted Tue, 27 January 2004 at 8:26 PM

insomniaworks ( ) posted Tue, 27 January 2004 at 9:27 PM

Thank you Khrys, Remember don't begin morphing it until I get you the next beta. The first beta was for Ynsean and Shadownet to work on. Shadownet has just sent me back the changes to the joint parameters as well as some changes to the grouping. Ynsean is still busy with the uvmap. I am helping two new texture makers get their start by contributing to this project. Very very few of the "old pros" are interested in making textures for AD/MD. Believe me, I have asked and posted threads in the merchant forum for some time! I guess they just don't like anime. We anime lovers are a breed to our selves it would seem. The void that the old pros have left in the market place has given alot of us unknown and new artists and merchants, ""such as my self"", a nitch in forefront of the Poser modeling market now. We are all learning new names these days, aren't we? Thank you, nomuse, chuck, compiler, 3dZone, Yggdrasil, Khrys, Darkskills, Hackworthless, Ynsean, and Shadownet, for being a part to this project. VIVA LA REVOLUTION!!!

Oh, I almost forgot, Thank you MayaX!!! for making such a great character - wish you spoke english better and talked more. Your character Kicks!

ynsaen ( ) posted Wed, 28 January 2004 at 1:59 AM

ynsaen will have the UVMap finished day after tomorrow. :) DeepUV is the primary tool, with the intent being to produce as distortion free a UV map as possible with even seams that texture beautifully. Combined with the high quality mesh, thoughtful design, and tremendous enthusiasm, this catsuit will likely become a standard reference for others. Sorry the Map is taking so long -- RL keeps prodding me in private places...

thou and I, my friend, can, in the most flunkey world, make, each of us, one non-flunkey, one hero, if we like: that will be two heroes to begin with. (Carlyle)

AlleyKatArt ( ) posted Wed, 28 January 2004 at 10:20 AM

offers ynsaen the blaster When RL prods, shoot it. I have to say again how much I love this suit already. It already conforms beautifully with no mesh breaks like many other catsuits have. Rips and tears are quite common, as are poke throughs, and so far, I've not seen a one.

insomniaworks ( ) posted Wed, 28 January 2004 at 7:35 PM

Some people are asking. I expect the release date of this will be Friday February 13 2004.

insomniaworks ( ) posted Wed, 28 January 2004 at 7:45 PM

Hey Khrys! You want to see mesh breaks! I will show you prototype I. LOL. I had to scrap the first mesh after four hours poser work to it. I was so pissed when I discovered the first mesh splitting at the crotch and leg junction. Went back the modeler and got it right the second time. :)

ChuckEvans ( ) posted Wed, 28 January 2004 at 7:55 PM

"...will be Friday February 13 2004." You're going to release on a Friday the 13th? Brave soul, I see (LOL).

WoW! I was going to leave a picture with my update, but thats a great work from The3dZone! Ynsean has shown me the latest map and I would say its almost perfect. I will have to some refining on the grouping and the jpzones yet, I then need to get it to Khrys for some minor smoothing and add in his morphs, I don't know what everyone elses work schedules are like so the product release date may have to be pushed back a little. This project is not being rushed at all so be patient, its going to be great! It fits amazingly, with little work in the "rigging" for poser stages. I will be adding JCM morphs for the minor fitting adjustments as well as JCMs to adjust for more extreme poses. The3dZone will be working on textures for the base package. Lordfox! Where are you! Contact me by email about doing textures also!!!! Thank you for your complements on the trims. They are optional by the way. The outfit can be used with everything turned on and be what you see here or many parts can be turned off to become a plain old standard catsuit. thank you marty

Also, you can all see the MAT zones in the above pictures Here is the breakdown of the MAT zones. I already plan on moving a few zones in the arms. The upper Arm fabric will extend all the way to the trim. There is no trim where the legs end and the feet begin, if anyone feels that one should be added there, please let me know. Thank you marty

Actually, it hasnt changed at all yet since you worked with it Shadownet. I am sure you were far too busy working on it to play with it, I know you are very busy. Your beta is still the latest version. I have to wait for the uvmap to be finsihed before I can move forward at all. thank you marty

Hi All, I've never posted in the development section here before. I just wanted to say that your catsuit looks awsome, so good that I scapped the one I've been working on, well not realy scrapped, I'm still using it as a learning experience. Can I make one suggestion for a material zone? Would it be hard to add a zone for a low cut/Cleavage type top, one that doesn't reveal the entire breast? That would be good for various T Shirt type looks. Grimjerk Long Live MayaDoll!

insomniaworks ( ) posted Wed, 04 February 2004 at 1:04 PM

Thank you Grimjerk, I couldnt add a mat zone there now, but that could be acomplished with transparency maps. Other News Release date is being pushed back, sorry, its a complex project and is taking longer than thought. I hope to see it realeased a week later then the friday of feb 13th. Thank you for the new picture The3dZone. You are thinking creativly, thats for sure! Thank you marty

SenshiTaurus ( ) posted Sat, 07 February 2004 at 1:00 PM

When you say Krhys is making morphs, do ya mean he/she is making morphs so it will fit her anime bodies, or just misc morphs to change certain shapes of it? 'Cause i think this could be used to make magnet's to make clothes fit them.....i mean, since it's a catsuit, it would mimik the shape, making it easy to make magnets for the bodies (i'm planning to do that, now i just have to learn how to use magnets....) Oh yeah, love the catsuit. Can't wait for it to come out. And what happened to your Sailor Moon pack?

SenshiTaurus ( ) posted Sat, 07 February 2004 at 1:08 PM

Oh yeah, and can we have the seams so we can make textures for it?

insomniaworks ( ) posted Sat, 07 February 2004 at 2:57 PM

Hey Senshi, Khrys is going to put in morphs so this cat suit fits his body shapes. I may more than likley make them morph INJect. Yes, Magnets would probably work fine for this task since you asked Khrys. About my SuperSailorSuit, well lets just say it was too much like an extremely popular anime charactor. Rosity felt that it was too hot of a copyright risk. Although the package is not in the MP, it can still be obtained by request. And about seams? I am not sure what you mean by this question, but, the uvmap is being layed out the best possible way I can get it. You will be able to texture the seams if you wish. thank you marty

SenshiTaurus ( ) posted Sat, 07 February 2004 at 3:04 PM

^^ When I say seams, hears an example: In the freebies, there is a download with a template you can use to make skins for the anime doll. He called them seams, so I call them that too........so I basically mean a template showing what's what, where things join, ect, ect, ect...... If I could make things for it I would make Eva textures (Evangelion suits). So, people can ask you for the SMPack, do they stiil pay? If they do, that is fair, since I am one of the very very very happy buyers of the pack, as you can see in my gallery. ^^ Do ya think it would be okey if I make things for it (like Super, and Eternal). I don't have a single clue how to, I just want to!

Larry F ( ) posted Sat, 07 February 2004 at 3:17 PM

Just from an end-user perspective, I have been resisting the MayaDoll temptation heretofore, but reading the posts in this thread has certainly changed my mind. Some GREAT looking stuff, I must say! I'm in! Larry F
