Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 29 7:57 am)
The Y axis too? that's terrible. Well I only scaled to 258% and didn't touch the Y, as I wasn't sure y petite figure would see over the dash, but I would at least like it to start at the right scale even if I have to alter it afterwards. Love esther

Thanks for the warning. I bought the thing a couple of days ago but I haven't installed it yet. It really gets my goat when Poser specific products are out of scale. Freebies, I don't mind but paid for products should be "finished" before they are sold.

I just asked a friend whos a mechanic, as well as my husband and my friend's wife, to look at what I did, and they all thought 258% looked right. Love esther ps yes I was a little disappointed as it's not a cheap model my any means.

I would send an email with the recommendationf or what the proper scale should be to Daz.

But before then I've got to sort something else out. It might have been something I did, but when I brought the model into vue d'esprit it looked like it was made of glass. I have to reapply the mats and it asks for a lot of bumps. then vue takes ages as well. I really need a new puter badly. Love esther

Just installed it and yep, it's tiny. Oh well, scaled it up to 285%. Looks great. Tried rotating it on the Y axis and the whole body raises up at the front. Not the end of the world, I grant you, but IMO it's sloppy to ship a vehicle which comes in undersize and behaves strangely. God help anyone who wants to animate it; they'll have fun if it corners.

It's already known, mac. There's a post in the DAZ forums about it. It seems the rotation problem has been corrected, but there's no updated file on the site yet.

I bought the Hummer from www.iw43d.com a couple of weeks ago -- before the Hummer from DAZ was available. I haven't used it in any renders yet. I wonder how the two compare with one another? Hmmm........
not to toot my own horn, but i identified/diagnosed the yRotation issue and emailed DAZ.
They fixed it within 24hrs, updated the install and e-mailed me. I re-downloaded it from the same link in my account and it is straightened out.
As for the scale. I kinda hate to say this because of all the whining I'm sure will ensue but they don't seem to concerned about it and passed it off as the modeler using a different program.
Perhaps if a lot of people politely enquirer about the scale they will get a hint.

'and passed it off as the modeler using a different program' Well, all modellers use their program of choice, but they all SELL for Poser, so that statement by DAZ is meaningless. When you poserize a model, that generally includes making it at a scale that matches the default figures. It's perhaps no big deal for the users to scale something up, but if the modeller does it once, it saves people all over the world doing it over and over. mac
Agreed, mac. Scale seems to be somewhat arbitrary with DAZ. Think of the Millennium Cat and the House Mouse, for example. Great huge things, they are. I bought HMann's Fender Strat when it was on sale there. That is also too big when it's first loaded.

SamT, I see what you mean. I was at DAZ just now browsing the forum and I read that the mill cat comes into poser the size of vicki. !?!?!?! I didn't know about this (I don't own any virtual beasts, just real ones), so it was surprise to me. Obviously, DAZ don't think anything of it, and if other products are scaled randomly, that probably explains why. But I have to say, I think it's pretty bad. I mean, come one.... scaling is about as basic as you can get. I broker through DAZ and I go to hell of a lot of trouble to make sure EVERYTHING is perfect before I submit a product. I never rely on anyone else finding problems. It's bad policy. But I would have thought that something as obvious as scaling would be noticed and corrected. mac
I'm with you on this, mac. The humans in Poser seem to be at a certain scale, so it's not too much to expect everything else to follow suit. As I said before, I don't really mind if a freebie is out of scale (it's bad manners to complain, anyhow) but bought stuff should be bang on.

Hi SamTherapy. You scaled it to 285? That seems really really huge. Can you try putting a steph petite in there and see if she can see over the dash? Love esther ps my mechanic friend who knows all about cars said a Steph Petite (5 foot 2 inches) would have trouble seeing over the dash in an SUV but would possibly be able to drive it.

Can you actually see the road hehe, or just sky? okay, now try SP3 who is your size in the SUV and let me know what to scale the SUV please? Love esther

Gosh I said 258 - how badly was I out? Love esther

I think the new version of the SUV just fixed a rotation problem. You'll have to scale it yourself. Love esther

"Gosh I said 258 - how badly was I out? Love esther" I said 285. I was closer. :P ;)

I couldn't believe it. It came in really small. Now I know I can scale it, but usually with poser cars they are already at exactly the right scale. Love esther
