Anyone know the best way to go about doing a motion blur in Vue 3.1? The manual says a little but not enough for a new user I guess.

heyas; let's see... first, you set up your scene, then turn on the animation bar (cancel with wizard thingy). go ahead a few frames, not too far, and move what you want to have blurred. the further you move it, the more blurred it will be. then you render... i'm not sure if it make a difference if you render the beginning, middle, or end. haven't had much luck with the motion blurring bit :/

See attached link for an example of motion blurring. bloodsong pretty much tells you what you need to do. Setup an animation so that whatever you want blurred is in motion. Best results are obtained if you setup your beginning and end keyframe so that the object is where you want it around the halfway time point between the two keyframes. Rendering on the first or last keyframe sometimes has problems if your objects accelerates and slows to have zero velocity at those points. So, move the time slider so that your object is in the correct position, then render in either 'Broadcast' or 'Ultra' mode. This is key - 'Final' mode does not render motion blur. Hope this helps. -Karl

Hi I also have motion problems This strange I am sure I have followed Karls instructions to the letter (I think) but when I render all I get is a normal non blured image. My steps are 1) Create a new picture, selected atmoshpere 2) Added a sphere 3) Pressed the animation button and canceled wizard 4) Moved slider 2 sec in time 5) Moved sphere to new position 6) moved time slider back to 1 sec 7) Render in broadcast or ultra mode Should these steps produce a motion blur of the sphere?? On my computer they don't. I would be interested in comments and wether I should be talking to tech-support?? Thanks Neil

Neil, some of us had this problem also and nothing helped, even not after re-installing VUE. We found the solution, without knowing the reason : We had to format our HD and then re-install again. E-on's team could not find out either and does'nt know why this happend to some of us.

Neil, your steps seem sufficient to produce motion blur. But, it is sometimes difficult to know whether there is some small key step that you are missing. So, since I know I can get motion blur to work, why don't you send the scene to me . Set it up so I just have to click the render button and I'll see if I get motion blur. -Karl

Thanks Gebe for the info. I think I will play with other things like the registry first before doing a reformat as this is a major pain. I guess the reformat was to the boot drive and if you reinstalled all your software and operating system then it is a version conflict so I have somewhere to look. If I find something without the reformat I will let you all know. Have fun Neil p.s. Thanks Karl I have replyed to your email address

THANK YOU! Man, I didn't expect this much help. I can do the blur in Photoshop but it just doesn't get the look that I want. I'm going to try these techniques, I'll post an image when I'm done. Thanks again
