Subject: Is V3 poor on morphs or is it just me?

MLazgaj ( ) posted Sat, 01 May 2004 at 12:14 PM · edited Sat, 30 November 2024 at 4:23 AM

No matter how hard I try, I can never give V3 the face I desire. The effect never resembles what I'm trying to create (see http://strony.aster.pl/celeb/comparision.jpg for the result in comparision with the goal). While I know the final effect strongly depends on the texture, I can't even make a goddamn nose look the same, because V3 lacks the morphs I need. Not to mention the whole face! What shall I do if the face morphs that come with V3 aren't enough for my needs? Is there any app you recommend for creating custom morphs (except for Facegen)? Or does anybody consider himself able of creating morph like this one and would be willing to?

Sorry, this is unhelpful, but I just couldn't resist! More seriously, you might try my Group-To-Morph python script; it does a fair job of setting up precise face moves.

I took a look at your camparison.jpg and I think you did a very good job. You didn't say if you also have the head and body morph packs for V3 which are sold separately at DAZ but I can't imagine you achieved those results without at least the head morph pack...

PapaBlueMarlin ( ) posted Sat, 01 May 2004 at 1:00 PM

If you have the morph pack, try the cheek sink morph a little.

MLazgaj ( ) posted Sat, 01 May 2004 at 3:23 PM

I DO have both morph packs. Thanks for the advice, I'll try to make some improvements and I'll get back here when I'm either satisfied with the results or give up:) Any more advices, ideas?

Try a few of the causacian morphs... probably germanic or celtic.

Here's this face with few tweaks. As I've noticed, the degree in which the model resembles the photo relies on lights in some degree (I'm rendering in P4 without shadows, but this time with bump maps on). Of course, if I had a texture based directly off the face, I could as well end now, because the result would be more than satisfying anyway. Instead, I'm using daz's Ann Marie Gottard texture with few color/makeup tweaks by myself. And by the way - since I came over the reference photo on the internet, here's more of them: http://www.tiffanyteen.kgb.pl (note that: 1.It takes ages for this site to load. 2.These pics are some sort of non-nude teeny-erotic stuff 3.This site seems to violate copyright laws, but that none of my business :P )

Same tweaked face, but with germanic, and then celtic morphs applied. Both at 0.5. I don't have any idea how else can I improve it. Please take a look at the site I mentioned before for reference suggestions :) (all the pics on this site belong to this one particular girl)

The germanic morph helps in my opinion. Looking really good :)

Hmmm ... these comments are based on the "tweak.jpg" image that shows the result with no postwork, tweaked lightset A and tweaked lightset B. I'm not sure if it's because her face is tilted downward with eyes upward in the photo, but check the eyelids as well - more specifically, the crease of her eye. It is barely visible in the photo, whereas they are much more visible in the V3 model. Another discrepancy, at least to me, appears in the shape of the mouth. While I think the top lines of the upper lip look pretty good, the bottom lines (ie: the upper lip portion that is closest to the mouth opening) needs to be straight toward the outside, and with a VERY slight dip in the middle. Another point might be the tip of the nose. Again, I'm not sure if it is the facial angle in the photo, so you might want to place V3 in a similar position before adjusting this ... but the "real" nose tip is a little more bulbous, especially toward the bottom of the nose. It almost points downward. Whether or not it looks exactly like the photo, she is still VERY cute and "unvicky-like". Very nice job!

Hey It's Tiffany! Cool. It's looking really good...I'd like to see the tweaks side by side with the original to see how well the tweaks are. I feel your pain regarding the lack of morphs. You know, with injection technology, I always though that DAZ would release another set of head morphs someday. Since they haven't, I've created a very handy tool for head morphing of any figure. Check out the link :) -WTB

Bungle has been working on another set of morphs for V3. If you don't have his set for M3, go out and get them. They're definitely worth it.

well i may have some good news for you. My good friend achilles3d is in the final preprations for selling a V3 fersion of his sculpting pack which will be available at Daz3D it is simular in the fact that it is suppose to be used to tweek the characters you make with the V3 morphs what i do is make what i can with the daz available morphs then i export the head like a morph obj then i insert the Sculpting V3 character (it has to be used because the sculpting pack has over 250 tweeking morphs and the normal V3 cant hold that many) then i add all the morphs i need then when i got exactily what i want i export that as a morph and insert that to the normal V3 and there ya go a perfect Morph made just by you ^_^ he has the M3 version available ad daz3D as we speak! he did this because me and a few of his friends all complained because of the same things the morphs are all targeted at certin areas of the face like seprate spots around the eye and ears jawn line nose all aspects of the face can be tweeked ill post a pic i did in it the changes are minor but if you look closely at the lips jawlins and nose you can see some things done that the avrage daz moprph packs cant do this is done useing the beta of the product which is just now in the stage of where he is setting up all the demo pics for the daz site to use

That's what I've managed to create. I doubt if I can achieve any more with the tools I have. Now I've got two questions: 1.Is anyone interested in improving this for me? (I mean someone else would be working on this face) 2.Does anyone have Daz's Injection Pose Builder and would create a single morph for me if I told him what morphs and dials are applied?

Grace37 ( ) posted Sun, 02 May 2004 at 3:48 PM

who is it anyway?

PapaBlueMarlin ( ) posted Tue, 04 May 2004 at 1:10 PM

Grace, your technique is really good. Very lively use of color. My only comments for improvement would be that the bump map is rather strong and the lighting on the forehead is a bit weird. But I'm no expert myself and I think you did a really good job :)

thank you very much and ill take your suggestions into consederation ^_^
