I started this character before I heard that Paul Anderson (I sure hope he doesn't wreck it like he did with Soldier, and Resident Evil) he isn't going with the Steve Perry AvP story like the arcade game did, but here she is in all her spectacular glory Machiko Noguchi. I tired to broker her to DAZ but never heard from em. She comes with every weapon I could find refernce to in the Predator stories plus a sheruken as featured in the upcoming film. The Alien is a slight upgrade from the Alien v2 that I downloaded. I don't know who it belongs to ( both email addresses in the ReadMe are bunk). But I appreciate their work. Oh yeah! Does anyone know anything about a predator poser character? I saw one once upon a time in an Google Image Search. And that was all I have ever found. It was on a Japanese website.

Firing bullets or throwing shuriken at something with an armored exoskeleton is as stupid as anything done in Stormship Troopers (which is one of the classic all-time stupid movies). The only way to beat monsters like this is with subtlety. I'd first dust them with a fine penetrating powder to clog up their airholes. Whether it was anthrax or carbon or a hallucinagen wouldn't matter nearly as much as the particle size. If they can't breathe, they can't think, and ought to pass out. If I used carbon or another industrial lubricant, their joints might slip so badly that they couldn't stand up. If an aerial dusting didn't work, I'd drop glooey gloppy stuff on them. If it has the same tensile strength as spider webs, that would be nice, but the basic purpose is to completely coat the creature, again so that it could not breathe. Immobility is an added bonus. Dust BEFORE glop! If there is something living inside the exoskeleton, it must catalyze nutrients for repair and growth... and must exchange oxygen as part of that process. If dusting and glopping didn't work, the next weapon in the arsenal is sonics. Rattle their bones? Hell, no! Get them thoroughly rattled and aching all over! If you can find the right frequency, maybe the limbs would fall off. :very wide, very evil grin: If dusting, glopping, and sonics don't work... there is electricity, magnetism, and shock waves (the reason cars have crumple zones is to absorb the shock... I doubt if these guys have crumple zones). After that, I'd go with heat and/or cold. Alternating extremes will cause granite and metal to break from fatigue, so ought to work on these pups. If the material in their skins is shrinking and stretching, it WILL be fatigued faster than they can repair it. Please note that ALL of these forms of attack are from a practical, safe distance, preferably from above. Only a nincompoop would run into hand-to-hand combat with naked bellybutton and exposed groin. Carolly Evil OverMistress of the UnderDark and Successful Conqueror of Alien Worlds

Carolly, I agree completely about sonics. Sonic weapons are also being developed by researchers in the real world. Years ago I built an alien figure for my own enjoyment. I did alot of research and it would stand to reason that since they do not use speech, but have been seen to hiss, communication is either sound or chemical base. lol Bees and ants. Skid, I think she is referringto marines.

Sure drop some a-bombs. Such a shame you can't use them without killing EVERYTHING, but heck you can't make an omelet without breaking eggs, right? YOU need to grasp a sense of humour, skid, if you got Carolly THAT much wrong. And books or no books, noone in their right mind would battle ANYTHING with naked bellybutton and exposed groin. Except another (female?) dressed like that. Catfight G

"Read the books she's based on you pud. Maybe you'll understand it a bit more and can make a valid judgement. Go kick some puppies b*tch... " "Where's the sport? Read the books. Grasp a sense of honour. Yes there are far superior methods of annihilation nuclear weapons for instance." 1 - Carolly can make a valid judgement without having seen the films on which the book is based (movie before novel, in this case). She happens to be correct in all her assessments as well. 2 - There is no need, ever, to resort fo calling names, and it violates the TOS, as well. 3 - This is NOT a great way to go about getting help ;) Carolly is one of the best folks to help you, and ya may have just cut off a great source of support. 4 - Giger himself actually noted that a good dusting would have a proper impact on the creature. 5 - All the sequels took excessive liberties with the aliens themselves and ruined their subtle beauty of design. I say we dust off and nuke the site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure...

Sorry... There is such a thing as constructive critcism however. Nothing like trashing the first posting of a newbie. I will agree that the Alien Human hybrid and the upcoming checker plate Alien seem to be getting a bit too carried away. But one would expect a slight change in the appearance if the creature gestated inside of a different organism other than a human ie the "dog alien" in 3. I am going out on a limb but I am gonna guess that the checkerplate alien is what you get if an alien births from a Predator. It would be nice if the did a consult with Giger if they plan to go much further.

ynsaen ( ) posted Mon, 03 May 2004 at 4:19 AM

nah -- dinnae feel bad, hon -- it's pretty much the auto reaction to any level of blind support for anything here. This is not a ground for purists to thrive in, lol Giger actually threatened to sue the producers over that Dog -- part of the reason the aline looks like it does is the conceptual nature of it -- Giger is obsessed with small details, and quite literally every single element of the Alien was concieved as part of the whole to make it into the single most effective killing machine ever envisioned. But I'm a lunatic. Says so, right here. And I still remember the darn OMNI interview with him in vivid detail. Oh, and lastly, you inquired about a predator figure. TBKoen made one, but did not include redistribution rights. It is currently still available through a yahoo group download, though I do not recall the link. The file always scans as having a virus in it, becuase of a movie contained within it, but it is safe. Nortons kills the file everytime, however, lol. It's a pretty cool figure. Do a search within this forum here on the keywords Predator, Yahoo, and TBKoen, and you should find several threads with links to it that aren't much more than a couple months old (although the file is). hth ;) ynsaen

Ynsaen are you sure there is no virus in the file? I've downloaded this a couple of times but when it came to the warning I just couldn't bring myself to open it........ been bitten too many times. 8) Catlin

There is no virus in TBKoen's Predator, but I did have to disable my AV when I installed it. It's mighty fine though, and well worth it!! Link to a pic of mine using it :)

Hmm..who's Paul Anderson..any relation to Poul?..;) no worries there, he's dead. Starship Troopers..I agree, could have been a lot better (the original book by Heinlein is pretty good..but then he's dead too..;) But then anyone who can make a 2 hour movie about strpprs boring has a talent that..well, maybe he can do Plan 9 from Outer Space as a remake..;)
I think Carrolly's analysis was insightful, thoughtful..and she spent a little too much time thinkin' about it for my comfort..;) I suppose we could always find another alien rotary saw to take care of the next ones..;)

I third that for TBKoen, have had it for years and had to re-install a couple times. The file is perfectly safe but the Preditor within is KILLER!!! And don't forget to get his weapon too, it is (or was) a separate download ;p Both TBKoen's Preditor and Spawn characters are two of the best you'll ever find!

mit123 ( ) posted Mon, 03 May 2004 at 1:06 PM

I know the thread has moved on a bit, but whats really worrying is that Carolly (Evil Overmistress) has really thought about this... :-p

Gareee ( ) posted Mon, 03 May 2004 at 7:13 PM

Interesting.. you can't download the zip from the yahoo group... and where's his weapon at? there's only the character file listed in the group...

Way too many people take way too many things way too seriously.

ynsaen ( ) posted Mon, 03 May 2004 at 7:40 PM

You have to actually join the group to download it, hon. It's in the files section, along with the crud spam that's built up in there since it was uploaded. I've never seen the weapon there -- I do recall it was still available somewhere, though, just not the location. And Carolly has naturally put time into thinking about it. What Evil Overmistress hasn't?

igohigh ( ) posted Mon, 03 May 2004 at 10:38 PM

Yahoo is very odd there, I've seen tons of e-mail from those having issues getting the download. Not that it'll help you but I'm sure glad I got all three when they were offered at ..... now what was that place's name? Props...somthing...been years now. But I have heard the file is accessable, just stuburn. Try using FireFox, that usually helps me on those stuborn ones...

igohigh ( ) posted Mon, 03 May 2004 at 10:40 PM

Oh, PropsGuild....pay site now, but had some really nice stuff from time to time.

Skidlicious ( ) posted Mon, 03 May 2004 at 11:28 PM

Uh where's the no-gen obj? it's cool but he doesn't have hips. the armor is spectacular. wristblades work wierd. he doesn't seem to come with the mask. However I like mine more than the one in the pic and it actually fits which blew my mind. I liked the attention to the beads on the dreads. now that I see them I remeber what they looked like. I couldn't find a decent pic when I was making mine. It downloaded just fine for me and it came with the burner. but no helmet or groin

ImagineThat ( ) posted Mon, 03 May 2004 at 11:31 PM

Where can you download that Alien model? It looks awesome.

igohigh ( ) posted Mon, 03 May 2004 at 11:42 PM

Skidlicious, check to see if you have Genitals turned off, I have a couple characters that way, make a bit of a pain if you don't want the others in the scene to have their dingle berries dangling all over but there's other work arounds for that too (can you say Bobbitt?) For the helmet you may check the character's Props attribs, it may be already laoded but just set to invisable....?

Skidlicious ( ) posted Mon, 03 May 2004 at 11:53 PM

I have no idea where I got it. I found it a long time ago... Hey waddaya know I found it. http://propsguild.com/Filez/AlienV.20.zip and it's official who it belongs to. HA HA now i can get permission. Lemme know if you want my texture. Their's sucks. He has the smae coloring as E.T. and his claws are yellow instead of white and his tail has spines. I removed mine.

ImagineThat ( ) posted Mon, 03 May 2004 at 11:55 PM

Yeah I'd love to have your textures. You did a great job! Thanks for the link to the file too. I was wondering if there was an Alien out there or not. Now I know! :-)

Skidlicious ( ) posted Mon, 03 May 2004 at 11:59 PM

Thanks for the compliment. Email me skidlicious@hotmail.com and I will IM them to you. I have some poses to make working with the 32 segment tail easier.

hauksdottir ( ) posted Tue, 04 May 2004 at 12:45 AM

Actually I have thought about how to kill such things. ;^) As a Game Master and Game Designer, I get to create all the monsters for the heroes to conquer. They have to be strong, intelligent, and vicious... but also have a vulnerability. Living creatures ALWAYS have a vulnerability if you have time to examine them, and if you think about the definitions of being alive. (And anybody who has dusted for aphids or sprayed goo on cockroaches or put out sticky poison for ants to track home on their myriads of tiny feet ought to know the how and why of their deaths.) As obsessive as was Giger, he knew these limits upon lifeforms. As a game player, the other guys know to keep me alive until I solve the problem of how to kill the monsters or escape the traps. I may be the weakest fighter at the table, but I'm usually the strategist. 🤷 I'm also the nemesis of other GMs because if they have left a weakness in the defenses, I'll find it. Even as much as I admire the LOTR movies, I'm appalled by the fighting tactics displayed by both sides... and that was a good movie. Most movies involving combat with fantasy or alien beings are simply awful and unrealistic. If I was going up against something like this monster in real life? I'd want a modern helicopter and a pilot who'd been in 'Nam... dusting agent orange on selected targets. His reflexes might be slower, but he wouldn't yell yee-haw like a game-playing kid: he'd simply go in and do the job, terribly and efficiently, and then fly us safely out again. As to honor? I'm evil, remember? My preferred weapon is puns at 10 paces... THAT's how evil. ;^) Carolly Evil OverMistress of the UnderDark and Conqueror of Alien Worlds
