For those interested in the stuff I have converted so far... Do you want me to post individual item or just pack them all together for one download? Grim

The3dZone ( ) posted Fri, 07 May 2004 at 2:49 PM

we do have a pretty long running thread here...lol if it was one thread this would be post #1,346. i wanna see if this thread will last a whole year...lol first post was on 1/21/04 at 12:33. 3dz

It would be easier to download if you'd put it all in a single package. But if it is for different outfits or packages and you're putting them in Freestuff, it would make more sense for people not following our meandering thread. (Xenophonz must have been really surprised by it : he lost his colours !) ;) 3DZ : my e-mail is compiler@free.fr if you'd want to send me something to test or to conform.

Wow, i guess my new suit got lost. I am newish around here. Big fan of Maya doll and 3dmax etc. Just noticed you did your summer wear on May 4th and its showing up in the marketplace already. Man, bummer. I submitted a Karate Suit for Maya on May 4th, the same day to the marketplace. But it's still not up yet. No word via email either. This would have been my first store product. Anyways, Maya rules and i like all the stuff for Maya everybody is doing.

-Yggdrasil- ( ) posted Fri, 07 May 2004 at 10:47 PM

Welcome to the thread newcomers. ^^ Glad to have you all on board here. I just got done with my 9 hour house renovation project downstairs... hands feel like they've been put through the meat grinder. =X **--** Nanoshi! What's your Hero on? I'm me on Guardian. Grimjerk, I think you should do both! Big package for us, little tiny packages for everyone else. ^_^ Also, very pretty kitty lady you got there. The head part reminds me of putting complicated symbols on Doll. I say we run with this idea of anime clothing. We have lots of realistic-type clothing, but I see not many anime clothing items. I mean, honestly, that's what put me here in the first place. Your Bondage Fairy and Sailor Suit clothes, although sadly missing from the Marketplace now, are awesome stuff. Here we have Anime Doll with... jeans? t-shirts? maid dresses? All nice, but not quite what people expect to see. A good case in point (and shameless plug) would be Anime Fantasy Study #004. I've come to the conclusion that it'll take me awhile to learn how to model clothing, so I have to make do with what you wonderful people provide. One of these days, I've really got to learn to model clothes... -_-

Nanoshi ( ) posted Sat, 08 May 2004 at 5:50 AM

Ygg, hehehe I'm on Guardian too what are the chances of that??? I have made several heroes but basically all remakes of the same one, I really like the Dark Defender :) my current incarnation is called 'Dark Phantasm'

Hi 3D True. I made a pic with your Ninka suit. It's quite good, but I had to tweak a bit : -changing triangles for quadrangles -resizing it a bit (the top half was a bit too high placed for Anime Doll) -mapping it There are still a couple of this to work on it, mainly the way the polygons join at the various body parts. What program did you make it in ? Anyway, you're off to a good start. I wish to see more of your work in the future.

Yes this thread is no longer a single tipic thread since thread number 3. The Car That 3d Modeling Built ------------------------------ Here is what has been distracting me the last few days. I just got my car back after 3 weeks in the shop getting a new engine. I hadn't had this car running in over a year and a half and just got it fixed, thanks to procedes from 3dmodeling. It is an 87 Celica GT Convertable, very rare car now. I am doing all sorts of fun stuff to it like simple mods and lighting, sound system, detailing, looking for rims and tires. Rims and Tires are going to set me back another $1000, so I need to bring my sales back up. So, I have taken a few days off to play with my "new" car, shoot me!! also... I am sort of lost, who needs an repaired cr2 for what item? I uploaded a improved cr2 for the Wetstuit-Swimsuit in the last thread. marty

insomnia: no girlfriend.. the life of a modellist merchand is a solitary one.. take it granted :) btw how would she react when youa re making such sexy outfits to naked polygonized dolls , hmm? :)p

SenshiTaurus ( ) posted Sat, 08 May 2004 at 3:43 PM

Well, she could be the one modeling them........... I'm sure Marty will get a very good girl with trousers like that.....YES! I'M ADDICTED TO THE TROUSERS! AHHHHH! blinks AWWWW! WAHT A CUTE DOGGY! YES I'M ADDICTED TO THE DOGGY! AHHH! Ya know, i just realised this has gone off topic.....again.

compiler ( ) posted Sat, 08 May 2004 at 3:44 PM

Well my wife doesn't object to the naked polygons as long as the kids are not showing around... Marty : glad to see what it is to be a succesful merchant. You're going to raise vocations ! The cr2 you had uploaded in the last thread had non functionnal JCMs. May be you swapped the files with the functionning one ? As of now, I think no one has received the final cr2. Oh and don't worry, you cannot possibly care for your computer, your car AND a girlfriend. This is too much for a signle man. They all demand much too much attention. As for me, I dumped my car... ;)

3dtrue ( ) posted Sun, 09 May 2004 at 5:30 AM

thanks for welcome. why convert to quads? is there a benefit to this?

compiler ( ) posted Sun, 09 May 2004 at 5:56 AM

Quadrangles have 2 advantages over triangles : 1-They bend better when morphed or deformed 2-Poser handles them much better, especially (but not exclusively) for P5 toon shaders.

Riddokun ( ) posted Sun, 09 May 2004 at 7:42 AM

hmm well after the "what for", the "how".. how to convert to quadrangle ? and anyway, if you do so, i guess that previous MT made for triangle-versin of mesh won't work... anyway it must look like rhino and its mesh in insomnia work's mapping. that explain why his clothes as less problem than others. btw compiler you speak abotu p5 toon shader, but how about p4 cartoon/wline mode ? (it is really a world on its own regarding "3d rules" as far as i noticed)

compiler ( ) posted Sun, 09 May 2004 at 8:39 AM

You can build clothes in quadrangles from the start. It's an option in most 3D modelers. To convert, you can either use a 3D modeler, or a little script named "detriang" in the freestuff, by Anthony Appleyard. Of course, you lose the morphs (and may be the mapping ?), but in the case of 3Dtrue's suit there were neither. As for P4 cartoon w/line, I don't use it. The toon shaders are much more versatile (let you use procedural textures, trans, texture maps, bump, displacement...). It speeds up the process to just make a render and you're done. For the rest, postworking can do wonders.

insomniaworks ( ) posted Sun, 09 May 2004 at 9:24 AM

I have no idea why that last cr2 isn't working. I had tripple checked it before uploading it. It seems the product is cursed. I upload it to correct the JCM not working and they still don't work. I will look into this and get a working cr2 uploaded again. Please be patent until after the weekend. Also, I have been informed that some of you are complaining to the rosity management about this teams forums. Lots of you love to complain to all the time. I have little time for complaining my self sinse I am so busy. I would suggest that you complainers do something more constructive with your time than complain about a few insignificant threads this team uses to promote its Market Place Products. Here is a forum thread if you would like to discuss complaining farther. http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?Form.ShowMessage=1397561

insomniaworks ( ) posted Sun, 09 May 2004 at 11:30 AM

I have been reviewing the cr2 for the for the WetSuit-Swimsuit and have decided that I need to take at least a day to look it over before releasing another beta or improved cr2. Sometimes products go thru the developement gracefully and sometimes they are a can of worms. I am sorry that I made the geometry simpler than usual to be honest with you. Although its faster to load and uses less memory, its more prone to fitting problems. thank you marty

insomniaworks ( ) posted Sun, 09 May 2004 at 11:34 AM

compiler ( ) posted Sun, 09 May 2004 at 12:39 PM

Complain ? About what ?

Grimjerk ( ) posted Sun, 09 May 2004 at 1:14 PM

As far as the complainers go, there is always going to be some one, some one where who will take offence for some reason to something said in any forum. (I hate trolls) most are just looking for attention.

Grimjerk ( ) posted Sun, 09 May 2004 at 1:15 PM

Damn Marty, you should have IMed me that magnet question. I could have answered it for yousince almost all my morph work is done in mags. BTW you don't have to save/spawn the morph, just export the figure to OBJ again. (I didn't read the full post, just the first couple after your question). What I need to learn is how to make the "interactive" magnet handles.

oh boy, i have only had 3dmax for a couple of months now. Also, i am an old vrml programmer. Quads are new to me. i see the option and i have had problems conforming my stuff to MayaDoll. Rather depressing too, to spend all that time meshing, only to find out there's all the poke thru's. But hopefully quads will help. Thanks for the tip!!!! BTW, is there a veteran MayaDoll merchant in here who would be willing to let me send them my new product for private review? i don't want my first product to make anybody mad. I have spent over three weeks on it. It's a Karate/track top, pants and a slip/cheerleader skirt. If i run through EVERY pose in poser four, there are pokethru's! But i also noticed my new catsuit i just downloaded has a few poke-thru's too (which i love by the way!). If i could email someone the zip i would really appreciate the feedback. Again, tis my first product and i want it to be the best it can be. thanks!

Grimjerk ( ) posted Sun, 09 May 2004 at 7:46 PM

3Dtrue, make sure your turning off inverse kenetics on the doll, and that your using the correct version of the doll. for animedoll there is only one version, but if your using mayadoll with insomnias clothing, you have to use the "fix" version with the hip mags deleted. almost all the poke thru goes away after you do those 2 things. grim

3dtrue ( ) posted Mon, 10 May 2004 at 1:13 AM

grim, thanks for the word. IK has been off, and i am using the AnimeDoll1.obj file as a base for my clothing. Still poking though. hmm. Also i emailed Nanoshi and compiler my outfit. Thank you both for agreeing to take a look.

Riddokun ( ) posted Mon, 10 May 2004 at 3:06 AM

i often saw a strange behavior/bug with mayadoll / animedoll and clothes. had to explain, i launched a thread long ago and even reported the bug to maya. uually this is what happens, you pose the character with cloths, and if you turn the body, or move any part (finger, hand, limb, torso, etc) the cloth will soon be distrored but if you move the same dial just sligthly more it goes again correctly and then continue moving the dial further it bugs again. intermitent/alternative bug on/off. had not seen it for a while (because i guess i inconsciently make anything to avoid it now) but if it reproduces again, i send a sample. maybe thi is the problem you experiment

-Yggdrasil- ( ) posted Mon, 10 May 2004 at 10:14 AM

Yeah, Poser is kind of buggy like that. Especially when you use the "Posing Camera". If you rotate some things exactly 180 degrees on the Y axis, they tend to disform also. Usually a render will look normal, but the workspace is a jumbled mess. There are times however that the actual item of clothing (most likely suspect) will be jumbled as well in the render, but that's unlikely (in the cases I've seen it).

Riddokun ( ) posted Mon, 10 May 2004 at 12:01 PM

hmm the bug i mentionned only ever happened on mayadoll (and animedoll)

got it 3d, will get to it later tonight Grimjerk: that quiestion was asked about magnets was a millinium ago...ancient history. That was a stupid side issue anyway to used to support or to make a bigger point. Anyway, on that issue, the problem is solved. The next thread launched in this series will appear in the Developers forum. This will solve the problems. Apparently our threads are causing a flood and burrying other listings. We belong in the developers forum and should have been there for some time probably and I appolize for that. Riddikun and 3dtrue: I have noticed a little chatter over a problem that I am very familiar with. It is what we developers, lol, call an "Explosion!" I don't know exactly why it happens in the first place, but I have a cure. Adjust you body part to where the explosion occurs open up the joint editor. Make sure the part that is exploding is selected and then select the direction of the bend that is offending in the list of movements. Change the number for the center by adding another digit and making it a 1. Like instead of 000 you will make it 0001. You will see the exposiong going back to normal before as soon as you add the digit. This change will be way to molecular to effect the posing behavior. I type all this from memorie with out looking at poser menus so if you need something further explained more clearly, I will do so. marty

3dtrue ( ) posted Mon, 10 May 2004 at 3:03 PM

Shoot, shoot shoot. seven days later and it shows up in the store. i feel like an ijut. Today, the original karate suit was added to the store :( That means all the new textures and quads and stuff are NOT in the first karate suit. Nanoshi and compiler. i still want your test results. I tried to remove or update my original listing in the store but no luck. Anyways, didn't want that to throw anybody off. Also, you are right this belongs in the development forum.

Riddokun ( ) posted Mon, 10 May 2004 at 3:52 PM

hmm well glad someoen saw it already./ thanx insomnia. did not catch your explanations very well. i kept the mesasge saved in a text file for further reference. whenever it happens i'll go back to it, and i may also show you a sample to confirm if it is the same thign you are talkin about in fact the CLOTH look deformed/bent as if wrongly conformed/posed over the body. btu for each step of dial seting, it is alternative. so i guess it seems to be what you are tazlking about, as you suggest adding one level of dial depth

compiler ( ) posted Mon, 10 May 2004 at 4:00 PM

I've known about the Developer Forum. ^^ I used it once before for something else. Now I understand why they're complaining I guess, but it's just one thread that would take over a page or two. ^^ Not like we get shunted to the top of the list like regular forums work. Ah well. We should be in the Developer Forum anyways, that's totally agreed on here.
