Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 11 3:50 am)
when you get free stuff it tends to come in a folder, sometimes called runtime. When you open it you see a folder called libraries or pose or face or whatever (these names match names inside your own poser folder). Inside these folders that you want to install there are usually folders with unique names. Take the unique named folders out of their folders and drop them into the same folders of your poser folder that have the name pose or face or texture or whatver where you got the free unique name folders. Be careful not to over-right any folders in your poser folder with similarly named free folders. Just take the contents out in that case and drop them into the folder. Does that make sense to you? sorry I'm not sure if I've explained it very well. The main thing to be careful of is never to replace one of your folders in your poser folder with a folder of the same name that you downloaded for free. Love esther
I aim to update it about once a month. Oh, and it's free!
Well, I'm a big Poser 5 fan and wouldn't dream of going back to Poser 4, but for the stuff you're doing I think the set-up you should aim for is Poser 4 (or "Poser Artist" as it is now known) combined with Vue d'Esprit 4. As a photographer, I think you'll find Vue lighting a lot more powerful and easy to deal with and also when you talk about extending your studio into a virtual world, I think you'll find that a lot easier to do with Vue, so my suggestion is to think seriously about adding Vue to your toolkit after you've got the hang of Poser. Vue integrates with Poser a lot better than Bryce and from my point of view it's also a much easier program to use, though both packages have their fans.

Hi, just joined up here and was hoping to make some contacts with folks in either Europe or the US who are poser fans, who could help me with getting my setup tweaked so I feel more comfortable with Poser. I tried both versions out, and have problems with Poser 5 working for me -- it tends to blow up constantly, because I think there are some memory or swap issues I am not aware of. Poser 4 works fine and allows me to do everything I want to, at least for a start. With regards to my goals for Poser, I am a professional photographer and have seen some awesome work done with regards to Poser and Bryce, including photos. I want to learn the products to create suggestions for images for my clients, so I can show them what their campaigns can look like, without hiring models at the start. Also to expand the small studio space into a virtual world would be awesome... The union of my photographic work and virtual digital graphics could be really the start of something big. However, I need some help with understanding where the files go, since alot of freebies tend to dump themselves just anywhere and I have no idea where to put them and if there is a relationship between a set of files and their textures or bump maps being elsewhere, I need to know their locations. Can anyone help me with this? I am sure its SOMEWHERE in the manual, I just haven't found it yet. Thanks alot, and I hope to meet some nice Poser fans out there!
