Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 26 1:43 pm)
It could be a grouping error of some sort. It can also be a jp issue, but my first guess is it has something to do with the grouping. It can be fixed by regrouping that part of the dress. (if it IS a grouping problem)

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA

Oh.. In that case I don't know. I've never tried making dynamic dresses.

Hmm could it be that those parts intersects at the starting pose? And then goes wonky like dynamic hair sometimes does with self collision turned on?

LOL Well usually if theres intersection at the starting pose, the sim will fail (IE the calculation numbers will just keep changing over and over again and nothign will happen). This "stickiness" happens near the end. As the caps show, it does "let go" near the final few frames, but still it shouldnt be doing that at all. Ive checked the model itself and theres no intersection there. Now in the sim I know her amrs come down close to her body and there could be intersection...but again, if there is, the sim should fail. ...Shouldnt it? LMAO
Check the relative size of the polys in both the arm and dress section in question. Nerd created some bootie and mitten props to use with charcters interacting with dynamic clothing; it seems that the small, numerous polygons in the hands and feet were small enough that they could violate the collsion detection...at least until they did collide, and the cloth seemed to become trapped -in- the mesh. I think the winding order could have an effect on that as well, but as I am not a modeller, that is just something I remember reading from long ago....
I often find that effect occurring when the cloth is approached from both sides. Turning on the "additional cloth collision" options (Object Verts and Object Polys agains cloth) sometimes helps. Also, playing around with the "soft decoration" groups can also help. Another alternative is to adjust the mesh so that the arm-holes (especially around the armpit)are a tad larger (sometimes works, sometimes doesn't). Yet another approach that sometimes works is to save the dress as a .obj at the point where it starts to deform, save the pose, then restart from there. (Although that's probably not a good solution if you are intending to distribute the dress). Just some thoughts. I hope you get it sorted - looks like a nice dress. I'm still experimenting with creating dynamic cloth myself. My general approach tends to be: 1. Create a mesh. 2. Try it. 3. If it fails, experiment with the settings. 4. If that fails, experiment with adjusting the mesh (moving verts). 5. If that fails, experiment with altering the mesh (adding/removing) verts. 6. If that fails, start another design.... Cheers, Diolma
LOL Well I tried several variations of everyones solutions. The one solution I havent checked yet and the one that scares the goofy juice out of me is Dales note about small polys. I havent checked for sure but that area thats sticking is the location of the poly I made as contraint points. Crud. Be my luck thats the issue. Ill keep you guys posted on my work. sigh Diolma: LMAO Jee I hope I get it solved before I reach step 6

Ok...almost got the sun dress workin.
Attached are some caps from my latest sim. The arms are workin now...for the most part.
But if you look at cap 3 youll see my latest hurdle. Why is the dress sticking to her arm like that and can it be corrected???
