hello, running vue 4.2. on laptop with 2gb ram and 12gb free hd space. on one of my scenes, just a few seconds after i click the save button i get a message box that just says ok. when i click the ok button on the message box vue just goes dead with all the buttons greyed out and the file is ruined. i did a search on the vue forum and came up with a couple threads on the subject and some suggestions on possible fixes. ive tried the fixes with no luck. this is what ive tried so far. ive made all layers invisible, ive turned off "render preview with save." and ive used "save as". does anyone know what causes this ok message and what if anything can be done about it? thanks, tom.

This only happens when your computer is out of memory.

That's correct. If you look at your scene..... 1501 objects and 8 millions of polygons could be enough to fill 2 G of memory. I have 1 G of memory on my machine and I start having problems around 2 millions polygons and 1000 objects.

And here I was thinking that I was unique with this little problem?!? The render I just posted here at the galleries http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=690170 was giving me exactly the same annoying little pop-up! I am running a P4/1.9Ghz/1GigRAM with almost 19Gig free space...the scene mentioned above weighed in at about 800 objects, 16 lights, approx. 150Mb in size, and well under 3 million poly's. I always hide and make layers invisible before rendering...except when I forget '-), and have rendered much larger files in the past...yet am still finding myself in this same situation! Any other thoughts on this matter would be greatly appreciated! ==steve==

Yep....my last scene, it didn't make one bit of difference by hiding layers and rendering only visible.....I was only able to render in final mode..broadcast just crashed. I also was not able to save. Mine was only 12mil polys...the reason I say ONLY is because I've rendered at 24.9mil poly before with no problems. My last scene NO volumetrics and only 2 additional lights :O....The reason I found was I had too many Poser items imported. Too many trees & veg will also cause this to happen. My specs are 2g of ram & 59.9G of HD space available...so go figure.

Ya know, dlk30341...I, too, was thinking along the lines of the Posers, but then again...I have, in the past, had upwards of a dozen of 'em, including the third generations, so I'm not quite sure that this would be the problem here! Would love to go back in and check this idea out, but just don't have it in me to reconstruct this scene from the last "available" save '-)! And obviously in this latest render, the plantlife is certainly not the issue '-). Definitely gonna hang in and see if anyone else has anything to add here!
