Ok here it is, corrected and mapped, ready for textures. I would like some true opinions on this as it is my first (after many attempts) true model in 3dsmax5 for my poser figures. It is a HK77ukAC Cyborg Killer. Got the Idea from some roleplaying games from my youth, and being a big Heckler Koch fan... I just had to make one for my sci fi renders. Thanks for looking. Will post again after textures are layed.

well from a non-modeller - i think it looks really cool :)

Also on my opinion a good model.

Have you imported this into poser for a import test? I thought Poser liked 4 sided polys. your barrel is really high in density. I see the box on the side and it looks like 2 triangle polys and could be done with 1 4 sided poly (6 pts for 2 tri or 4 pts for 1 poly). nothing can come out the barrel at the end. I assume it's a blaster laser weapon, but even then most typical blaster weapons have a barrel you can see in. model looks good design wise. high density means longer render times, I'd see where you could reduce some of te overhead. congrads on your modeling, I'm still hackin away with lightwave and modeling.

you should be able to inset the end, and intrude a bit to get the 'barrell' part. Just remember to 'weld identical vertices'..;)

I wish I'd said that.. The Staircase Wit

"Thanks for looking. Will post again after textures are layed."

Looks like you used booleans in your modeling process. This will sometimes screw up the UV's and make it harder to get good texturing. You'll probably get lots of stretching and seams. Also, I'm not sure why your cylinder's have so many faces. The mesh seems unnecessarily dense in those areas, and may not be easily worked with in Poser by most people. Since Poser rounds edges you can, as people have said, have fewer faces in the barrel. For the same reason, if the edges of the angular sections are joined you will get rounding and strange shadowing effects when you import into Poser.

Thanks for your opinions...As for the density in the barrel...my first try had 16 sides and showed up REAL badly in poser even with a texture applied. I did this to "create" a more rounded look and it works well. There are alot of ways i could decrease the poly count on this model, but it was becoming a big pain for the start and did what I could just to get it finished. remember though...this was done with no prior 3d experience and was done by trial and error over a months time. I'm sure my next gun will be much better as I just bought 3ds max 5 bible.

A word of warning and advice, since it's 3dsMax you are choosing for your modeling, try your hardest NOT to use booleans in Max. If you want to know why, just take a stroll over to the 3dsMax forum and ask around. Try to do as much research as you can about logical modelling, and go into a project with a good working knowledge of some of the other techniques to get good results without booleans. Booleans are quick and easy, but they suck in 3dsMax, and can really screw up an otherwise perfectly good model. Good luck! (BTW, the 3dsMax 5 Bible is a great book).
