heyas; dunno if you guys noticed, but they changed the way threads are ordered, so the ones with the most recent replies are first, instead of in order of the original post date. if you like that, or hate that, visit the front page to vote on it, please. (especially if you hate it; we're currently losing!! ;) ) i think changing the thread order daily will mess up people who are trying to page back through the archives to find a particular message. also, you can quit saying 'well, a few threads up/down from this one you can find....' ;)

Mehndi ( ) posted Wed, 18 October 2000 at 9:34 AM

True. I think this new style promotes a certain negativity also, when one tends to see alot of negative posts upon first arriving. And let us face it, the negative flaming threads tend to be most active, so they float to the top. This new way also buries little folks who are here for art, under a popularity contest style posting thanger... not easy to locate their tiny insignificant posts for real help, when one faces posts that are done by the spamhogs and take up massive space, and are in your face every time you log in.

ninhalo5 ( ) posted Wed, 18 October 2000 at 12:33 PM

yes, not to mention that if someone needs help, well his new post gets kicked 10 pages back and nobody sees it. that just happened to me. i had to post 2x here and either only one person was kind enough to help me out or no one else seen my post, had to go to the other site and post, i know if this keeps up i'll have me a new home page. nobody can help each other if they cant see your post, and who wants to go back 10 pages to see if they missed something everyday? this site has been home for over a year now hate to change it but hey it would be their loss. 90% of the people here frequant the other site so i know i can still get top of the line help by the same great artists but just at another board jeff (blab, blab, blab)

You got my vote Bloodsong. Just because a thread gets a lot of replies it doesn't mean it really is popular. there are thousands of members here, twenty or so don't make a majority, and don't justify burying other peoples posts.

artnik ( ) posted Wed, 18 October 2000 at 1:50 PM

I checked the votes, I think your side is winning. I prefer it in the order of the original post date, too. It's easier to find if it stays in the same order, and you know approximately where it is. I don't like a constant guessing game as to where a post went.

Fox-Mulder ( ) posted Wed, 18 October 2000 at 4:18 PM

Hey, thanks for clueing me in here. I thought I was losing my mind. I kept seeing posts that I thought I had read days ago. This new system is really confusing and I think not helpful to logical ways of processing information. And like you guys said- this will become prime SPAM Meat. People will just keep posting to bring their own messages to the top. It could get really ugly fast.

Anthony Appleyard ( ) posted Wed, 18 October 2000 at 4:25 PM

Oh, that's why my message about my frogman model got buried so fast!!!

Mehndi ( ) posted Wed, 18 October 2000 at 4:27 PM

Yeah, I too posted a preview rendering of the excellent model Jaager and I have been building, and it was immediately buried so deep it may as well not have been even posted.

VIDandCGI ( ) posted Wed, 18 October 2000 at 4:46 PM

This is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Confusing, please return this forum back to normality. How can we keep track of anything going on if the messages keep changing relative position. Also I feel the Forum Poll should be worded clearer, considering some members dont speak english and others are younger. VOTE NOW! get this forum back in order!

PhilC ( ) posted Wed, 18 October 2000 at 5:05 PM

I dont like it either so I posted a reply to the LAST message in the list. Not suggesting that you all should follow my example. (evil grin) philc_agatha_white_on_black.jpg

Mehndi ( ) posted Wed, 18 October 2000 at 5:14 PM

The best thing we can do is to keep this message floating to the top, and also go to the eeee ick one I began in complaint and debate and be heard there too, keep floating it up to the top so our good hearted management will know we care, and change it back as they have said they would, if we show them we care. Many wont even know there is a vote being taken, if we don't use the very thing we want gone to keep this message floating, so post post post to this thread and the eeewww ick one, or start your own even in C&D :)

artnik ( ) posted Wed, 18 October 2000 at 5:19 PM

That's what I like, a little controlled anarchy!

VIDandCGI ( ) posted Wed, 18 October 2000 at 5:35 PM

Please sort these threads out so we can return to some sort of sanity

Wynter ( ) posted Wed, 18 October 2000 at 5:57 PM

Ok Mehndi, Doing my post to keep it alive. I don't like this new system either and voted against it. Good trick Phil. :)

Jon ( ) posted Wed, 18 October 2000 at 6:57 PM

Count me in too! And with two people using the pc this is really confusing, especially if your wife marked everything as read. Sheesh, I came to an empty forum!

the Escapist ( ) posted Wed, 18 October 2000 at 7:16 PM

('jes keepin' da thred alive!) :-)

ookami ( ) posted Wed, 18 October 2000 at 7:18 PM

Let's go back to the old way... where they were in order of posting... not order of last post. ARGH!

Chailynne ( ) posted Wed, 18 October 2000 at 8:11 PM

I voted to change it back also. This is to confusing... moving it to the top again

Mehndi ( ) posted Wed, 18 October 2000 at 8:28 PM

With a little help from my friends.... Bumping it again :) to the top :) Keep on voting, keep on asking, they will change it soon for us :)

Marque ( ) posted Wed, 18 October 2000 at 8:43 PM

Voted. I wondered why everything was screwed up! Leave for a few days and the whole dang place falls apart...lol Hope they change it back soon. Marque

Mehndi ( ) posted Wed, 18 October 2000 at 8:50 PM

And up she goes again! Good to see you with us Marque :)

nitreug ( ) posted Wed, 18 October 2000 at 9:14 PM

You got my vote also. All messages are important and need to be viewed as posted. It is true that negative message sometimes received a lot of answers and also people will start to put funny title to get people into their message. In all forum that I go, the posted order is the order where everyone see the message. Claude

wyrwulf ( ) posted Wed, 18 October 2000 at 9:54 PM

Put it back, Please

Mehndi ( ) posted Thu, 19 October 2000 at 1:48 AM

Thank you thank you thank you, Edgenet management!!! It is ever so much nicer now :)

Norbert ( ) posted Thu, 19 October 2000 at 1:51 AM

You don't WANT to know what 'Bump' means!! It would be best to clear outta here before things get nasty...

bloodsong ( ) posted Thu, 19 October 2000 at 5:34 PM

whoa! thanks, guys. :) and 'bump,' in this case means to add a reply to a topic to renew the date on it, so it is sorted to the top of a list that is sorted by response date rather than original post date. (shush, norbert!) yes, mulder, it's just another alien plot to make you question your judgement ;) but don't worry, we caught on to 'em! also thanks for putting the old sort order back on, and apologies to jeff for posting off topic.
