Very nice! One variation might be to have a brighter light, maybe slightly yellowish, emanating from the entrance in the middle of the scene.

Wow, Ken! This is awesome. I really like the texturing. Coming at this from my background as a set-dresser in movies and stuff, I really like the detail of the boxes and such, but they're a little too neat. Knock 'em around a bit. And I've never been in a loading dock that's this clean. Little papers and cigarette butts and some dirt on the concrete near the dock, plus I think there would be some rubber bumpers to keep the trucks that'll be backing into the concrete and chipping it away. I REALLY like the tin roof. Really nice work, man.

Nice one ..but i think that bump is a bit too heavy. I tsems also that there is a small pb on tiling of the floor texture...(not a seamless texture ?) Anyway keep going on :-) just my 2 cents....

Hoof, Thanks! The texture was an easy create is PSP8 with the offset feature. The random colors were produced using noise and the pixilate feature to produce the greyscale, which was then set to darken a red layer... make sense? didn't to me when I first tried it... but boy does it make good bricks!

Mateo, There is a light, just not pointed at the entry... I figured that it might be a bit overwhelming... maybe I ought to try it the other way...

Dex, The attached image is the detail of the crate, but when you render at 1024x768 you lose something... The ciggies and paper were not something that I thought of, but definitely something to add, maybe an ashtray/can... Oh, yeah and I forgot the bumpers. Everytime I remember, I tell myself, then promptly forget... Mind like a sieve, this one...

Pete, the bump has to be that heavy, or the image looks too flat. Believe me, I tried. Which floor tex? The asphalt is a "noisy" black with a matte black layer above cut up by a grunge opacity mask (no tiling here). The concrete is a map, and is not tileable. I figure since we see so little of it, it might not make a difference... maybe it does...

Hey, Ken -- I remember that crate -- you posted it or something like it a while ago. And it looks cool. My comment was meant to suggest that they just are too nicely piled up. Perfectly square relative to each other. Think about the big burly, smelly guys who just kind of heave them up on the dock. They're not going to take the time to make sure all the edges are perfectly aligned with each other.... (Nice touch with the "this side up" pointing down, by the way. Very funny!) - Dex

Something about the lighting in the render looks odd (A very helpful comment I am sure :) ) I love the crate it looks awesome.

I think the 'floor' Pete mentioned was the asphalt, as yousay, but it's where the ramp meets the level part. One ENDS, and the other BEGINS. Not a lot of subtlty there. Can you make it from a spline instead? So it has a curve to it from ramp to level. Actually.... I've never seen one perfectly level or ramped either! A little variety in the modeling might help. A couple of pot-holes maybe. I love the bricks! I'm going to have to squirel that idea away for a rainy day when I need a cool texture! The Blocks on the other wall though... too regular. Not enough grunge there. Maybe some with chips, especially around the corners where those 'burly' guys don't care if/WHEN they hit going around the corners. Good work! Keep going!

Nice work. I think mateo's got a point, the light inside could be of a different colour. Yellowish might be right and just a tint of it, only to make strenghten the impression that they are electric lights not natural. Halogen tube lights give a slightly green colour. There's something odd with the concrete at lower left corner. How about some rubble and garbage to the ground, especially to the corners. Otherwise, splendid work. I like the tiles and the graffiti. -HK

DUH! Would you guys mind posting a reminder on how to make seamless textures using the 'offset' feature in Photoshop? I knew how to do it and, dang, I forgot how. deedub
