yep looks like its down again, this is getting really old..lol

Marque ( ) posted Wed, 30 June 2004 at 9:18 AM

I can't get either. And last time I was in they were saying they were going to have an "average of 4 models a month" which pretty much opens up the door to fewer and fewer items. Marque

FlyByNight ( ) posted Wed, 30 June 2004 at 9:25 AM

An average of four models a month? I thought I've paid for a new model each week, which means if there's five weeks in a month I get five models. I won't be renewing when my subscription runs out even though I like most of what I've gotten. The down times are constant now and that's no way to run a business.

Yup I feel the same. You need to read the forums on it for yourself. At least if he hasn't deleted it. He has been deleting stuff lately from the forums that isn't complimentary of the site...another thing I find disturbing. Marque

Alot of people have gotten disgusted with the way things are going there...not just lately but in the past as well and many have not renewed their membership..including me, even tho I keep getting notices asking me to renew, I won't. It's seems the site is down more than it's up.

Marque ( ) posted Wed, 30 June 2004 at 11:14 AM

I have to say I could not recommend it to anyone and feel comfortable with it. Marque

FlyByNight ( ) posted Wed, 30 June 2004 at 12:22 PM

Yes, I've noticed the complaints about the deletions in the forums. I thought when Xurge came on board that things would be better but they're not. I have to agree with you, Marque, I wouldn't feel comfortable recommending the place to anyone either. I've been there over a year and it all keeps getting worse. It's sad really because they have offered things for all versions of Mike and Vic, which was helpful to those of us who still use some of the older versions as well as new versions. And, if you're offering a weekly item, it should be there, on time. I never understood why there weren't items prepared in advance. I offer free downloads on my sites and though it's only one new item each month for two different sites they are posted on the first in a timely manner because people expect it and those items are prepared in advance. Oh well, enough of my griping, guess that's the way the old cookie crumbles.

Its a shame, they had some very good content. With the addition of Xurge they'd been headed in a very inetersting Sci-Fi direction. But alas, site problems and not enough content can kill a subscription service. I've been debating getting a subscription again just to pick up the content from the last 6 months but .... I can't do that while the site is down. Not good. Lyrra

I had a 6 month membership a while back. When i joined i downloaded 30 or so pretty good items. I didn't renew, partly because I was hoping the site problems would be worked out. I just visited again today and found about 12 really good items posted since I was a member (the Mood shield was the first item up after my membership expired, which was what - 6 or 8 months ago? A lot of the items they post aren't of interest to me, but I may renew another 6 months just for the 12 items I see that I like. Anything else they put up I like in the next 6 months will be just gravy. They have a LOT more site problems than PW, RDNA, PPro, Renderosity, etc. - nearly as many as DAZ, (thought usually more serious) - But I've had frustrating problems with just about all of them on occasion. It's all bout the numbers - 30.00 isn't that much, all things considered, though obviously their forte is content, not site maint. . . . Just my 2 cents worth . . .

FlyByNight ( ) posted Wed, 30 June 2004 at 1:27 PM

Yes, it's back up. I've never had a problem with their content, as I've said I've enjoyed just about everything they've offered even if I couldn't use it, and the Sci-Fi stuff that was posted in recent months has been great. And you're right, it's worth renewing if they have items that you like and can use. Six months of stuff for $30 is a bargain.

I won't renew if they go the way of an average of 1 per week, that just opens the door for them to skip when they want and you really can't call them on it. I paid for 1 item per week and expect to get it. No, I won't be sucked into renewing again. Marque

Marque ( ) posted Wed, 30 June 2004 at 2:41 PM

And they are still down for me. Marque

leather-guy ( ) posted Wed, 30 June 2004 at 3:19 PM

I'm still getting in with no problem. Perhaps it's a routing bottleneck between your ISP and theirs. . . . Just guessing, really, but I get in right away.

MeInOhio ( ) posted Wed, 30 June 2004 at 4:48 PM

Well, they do certainly seem to have problems. But I did like the quality of what I got. It's some of the best around, I think. And I would have re-newed for that reason, and because Xurge was on-board and that seemed promising. But they didn't bother to tell me my subscription was going to expire, so I just said heck with it. I still wouldn't know, if I hadn't tried to download something and wasn't able to see the links. But even that wasn't a give-away. I've had a lot of trouble accessing the site since I use ZoneAlarm. I would have to play with the settings until I could finally see them. I then posted in their forum. Finally got an answer - subscription was up. But I had to read it in the forum in response to my post.

I won't be renewing when my subscription runs out even though I like most of what I've gotten. Yes, that sums it up for me, too. The actual content is fine, but the site has more problems than a manic-depressive teenaged girl, and the customer support is poor to nil, generally speaking. I can do without the hassle. The stuff may be good, but when the service is so bad... shrug bonni

I diddn't renew it either to much problems with the site

Bobbie_Boucher ( ) posted Thu, 01 July 2004 at 9:38 AM

I gave up on them several months ago. Many of their items were missing files, or had bad texture references, etc. They never responded to any of my communications. And, yes, their site had too many problems. At this point, I am pretty disenchanted with all the Poser subscription sites I've done business with. They just don't quite get the dynamics of dealing with customers.

Marque ( ) posted Thu, 01 July 2004 at 11:01 AM

Poserworld has been great, and he does the same model for all the characters which is nice if you still use Mike2 and Vickie2. Marque

elizabyte ( ) posted Thu, 01 July 2004 at 8:40 PM

I agree with Marque! Poserworld is indeed excellent. No complaints at all on that count. :) bonni

PoserWorld is the only subscription I've got. I think they're great! :) PoserStyle is another story. I left after my first subscription expired. Too much down time and they do have a lot of problematic files.
