Is there a program that converts UGR to MAP and vice versa ? /Hubbabub

It is my impression that MAP files can be opened in UF with no problem. Perhaps that means that you can just change the extension. It's worth a try with a copy. :)

Yes, UF can open, use and convert MAP files.
I have now tested,
you can't use a UGR file in Chaoscope.

But I think I have maybe found a way around it.
Open the UGR file in a text editor
Select the gradient you want to use
Paste the selected text into a new text file
Name it with the MAP extension
Start up WinFract
Load the new MAP (Colors => Load Color-Map...)
Save the color map (Colors => Write Color-Map...)

The format of UGR gradients and MAP files is very different...have you actually tried this? Apophysis can save gradients as MAP files ("Save as Map file..." on the pop-up menu in the Gradient editor).

Yes I tried it, but I think the colors is showing up wrong. Oh, I did know that about Apophysis. Cool. I'm going to try that, Thanks. /Hubbabub

Thanks for straightening me out on that, Mark. I knew one of my two favorite programs could do that.

Fractals will always amaze me!
