How does one achieve the soft lighting/glowing effect on the renders? The soft glow in the final products that gives it a painted feeling rather than it was just put together in Poser? Just trying to improve my techniques. Thanks for any and all advice.

I reckon it depends on what package the person did the render in. Postwork lighting can be tricky trying to keep the shadows consistent. So, if you don't have VUE or Bryce might I suggest using the pastel colors on you lights.

I must remember to remember what it was I had to remember.

Auto FX Mystical Lighting is an absolute gift!! Pricey for a plugin but worth it. Use it all the time.

I tend to mainly use 2 photoshop plugins - Extensis Intellihance Pro available at http://www.extensis.com/en/products/product_family.jsp?locale=en_US&id=1015 and then Andromeda Scatter light http://www.andromeda.com/ I also have the Auto FX suite and they too are excellent. It depends on exactly what look you want to achieve.

DTigerWoman has an excellent package of postwork scripts for both PSP and Photoshop in her store.

Jenai21 has a great tutorial on this subject...I always like the soft look she gets in her images. Go here: http://members.fortunecity.com/jenai1/glowtut.html This is one way to get that glow effect.

Heres a little tip for anyone who is looking for the 'soft' look to their images. Assuming your using photoshop ----------------------------- 1. Open your render 2. Duplicate the layer twice so you have 3 layers (All the same) 3. Delete the very bottom layer (or background layer). This will allow you to adjust the opacity of both layers. 4. Add a Gaussian Blur filter to the bottom of the two remaining layers (Use a setting of around 4-5) 5. Now click on the top layer and change the layer mode to either overlay, screen, or whichever layer setting you feel gives you the softness you are looking for. 6. Now you will have a soft image but you will have to play around with the opacity levels of both layers, and also adjust the colour balence to get you perfect image. This is just a very rough way of creating soft images that I have written on the fly. If you would like to check my gallery out and view some of the postwork i have applied to my own imagery then please feel free. http://www.renderosity.com/gallery.ez?ByArtist=Yes&Artist=paulwillocks Also if you have any questions at all just IM me. Thanks guys. paulwillocks
