Doc, Will these same principles work for morphing of clothing as well?

May I ask: did you ever cover the creation of clothes? It does come quite close to this I suppose, but I'd love to know more about it.

Man do i need to cath up. This is a great tutorial Dr. I tried following the one that came with wings and io got some good results but this is excellent. Thanks doc Keep em coming.

Teyon ( ) posted Fri, 30 July 2004 at 12:18 AM

Doc...what about using Magnets in Tweak mode? Poser models import into Wings at too small a level for it to work. It's the best feature in WINGS and would make creating morphs easier. Any advice on how to get that to work or would we be forced to scale everything up using SCALE UNIFORM in wings with the TAB Key for numerical input to control the scale up and down?

Teyon ( ) posted Fri, 30 July 2004 at 7:08 AM

Also, if scaling is the only way to go for that, is there a quick, painless way to get the object to center on the origin (i.e. some automated function)?

geep ( ) posted Fri, 30 July 2004 at 7:13 AM

Hi Teyon,

You can change the size of the "Tweak mode" using the "+" (plus) and "-" (minus) keys.

Also, you can change the type of magnet ... details are in the Wings manual.

I will try to do another tut on making morphs using Wings3D because makin' morphs is very easy when you know "Dr Geep's Magic." ;=]

geep ( ) posted Fri, 30 July 2004 at 7:18 AM

Hi Teyon, NO! You DO NOT want to center the object on the origin. DO NOT CHANGE THE ORIGIN ! - Your morph will not work. Use the "A" key ("Aim" function) instead. See Page 14 of this tut. Now, the camera will rotate around the selected item(s). cheers, dr geep ;=]

Teyon ( ) posted Fri, 30 July 2004 at 7:37 AM

hi and thanks. Yeah, I know about the + and - keys but with the default import from Poser into WINGS, the model is too small for it to be of any use. The Magnet tool won't shrink that much, it simply vanishes after a point. I'll have another look at that post when I get back home, maybe I mis-understood something. Thanks Bunches, -T.

Teyon ( ) posted Sat, 31 July 2004 at 10:25 AM

Figured out where I went wrong...I missed the part where you say not to move the origin. Everything makes sense now and works swell. Thanks to you Master Ki now has the ability to blink, shut his mouth, and make weird faces. lol.

geep ( ) posted Sat, 31 July 2004 at 10:51 AM

Master Ki? ... Post a pic .......... or 2 or 3. Let's see what ya got. ;=]

*** TOP SECRET *** FOR YOUR EYES ONLY *** ****** DO NOT SHOW THIS TO ANYONE ****** ;=] Actually, you CAN scale the object (up - or down) if you need to - details are on Page 8. cheers, dr geep ;=]

Hi, This is such a silly problem that I'm embarrased to mention it but I hope someone can help. I'm happily slugging along and have imported my head and rubbing my hands getting ready to morph and can't "pan" to get the head down after scaling it bigger with the mouse. Of course it's disappeared off the top of the screen. Yeah, I'm using the "Alt" key. I have the standard Logitech wheel mouse. Nothing special about it. Have used all the buttone for movement in other programs. But can't pan. I "tumble" just fine, scroll larger and smaller with the wheel, have it set as in the screen shots for the tutorial, but when I hit "Alt" plus "center button" which isn't a button but the wheel, nothing happens. I'm so FRUSTRATED! So if I import and scale up in the import dialig box before the import takes place, do I have to do anything after that? I really prefer using the "zoom" to scale up and down when I please but maybe this would be an alternative. Sigh.....

geep ( ) posted Mon, 25 July 2005 at 2:14 PM

Hi Susan,

Have you tried using a different camera mode? .... (ref: Page 6 of this tut)

Teyon ( ) posted Mon, 25 July 2005 at 3:34 PM

I used to always use the Mirai camera setup in WINGS. Works well with a scroll mouse which has the wheel as the third button. :) Be sure your mouse setup allows for the 3rd button as a middle button though. Logitech mice have to have that set by the user as I recall.

AtelierAriel ( ) posted Mon, 25 July 2005 at 5:11 PM

Used different camera modes and still no pan. But the mouse setup may be the problem! I'll try and see. Thanks and I'll let you guys know.
