Is it possible to put my main or any camera inside a tent (circus) and place it at the roof pointing down to the ground? Any tips appreciated.Cheers arrow1

Hi arrow1, Ok, ok ... maybe *that* answer was just a little bit too brief. It is possible that you could find some helpful info in [ THIS TUTORIAL.](http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?ForumID=12356&Form.ShowMessage=1839126) cheers, dr geep ;=]

Yes, you can place the main camera anywhere you like. Assuming that the center of the tent is at the at the universe origin, try this. Select the Main Camera, zero all the "Dolly" and "Orbit" dials. Now set "xOrbit" to "-90", this turns the camera to look directly at the ground (if you don't want the camera looking directly down use a smaller number). Now use the "zDolly" dial to raise the camera to the desired hight within the tent. If you are asking how to determin the correct hight for the camera in Poser 4, then I'm afraid I don't know the answer, trial and error is the only thing I can sugest.

Er.. if you need a camera that looks straight down, why not simply use the TOP camera? you can zoom in with it so that it's inside the tent too. And then you can still use the Main Camera for setting up the scene...

The TOP camera is an orthographic camera, one that doesn't show perspective, that is. That's a very unnatural sight.

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Tue, 03 August 2004 at 1:11 PM

Ah of course. Forgot that... Sorry. Hmm I wonder if you can place the top cam then copy the parameters and paste them onto the main- or aux cam?

Hehehe! I've tried it! I've loaded a simple prop (so I have something to see). Then I switched to the "From Top"-camera I did a CTRL-C Switched to "Main"-camera and ... did a CTRL-V ---> The viewport looked exactly like the "From Front"-camera!!! I think, the copy operation took SOME but not all of the parameters. Now I have a Main-camera which cannot move in y or x-direction :-) Well, after a hearty "NEW" the main-camera was normal again! Phew! Willy

Hmm so the Main Camera became an ortogonal camera too?! innnnnteresting..... I wonder if that would work the other way around too.... :o)

Well, we men always need a woman to tell us, what to do next ;-) I've tried the same thing the other way around. The result is: The Top-cam now shows perspective - but you cannot change the angle of vision - it is always top-down! That would be almost what arrow1 had in mind. Willy

Hehe thanks for testing it for me. That's actually an interesting discovery, I think. And... This is called to delegate work ;o)

Thank you all for assisting me in this project.I have made a little headway by using the x orbit -"90" and the Z dolly to adjust the height. This seems to work ok.I will post my trial render tonight when I come home from work.I have yet to trial the CRTL-C and CRTL-V method. My main problem was to get some form of lighting into the tent and position a prop so it could be seen. Also the ground was a problem as well. However I just loaded some default stage lights and simple circus prop and I am now in the process of adjusting everything.Cheers arrow1

Try playing with the "perspective"-setting which is, like, the focal length of the camera. You can achieve an extreme wide angle view with 25mm or a tele view with 125mm. Willy
