Subject: Mixed feelings because of mixed media[LOL]

Longrider ( ) posted Wed, 01 September 2004 at 12:56 PM · edited Fri, 29 November 2024 at 2:05 PM

well i've been away for a month or two and I guess a few things changed in here. I received A message from the mod that one of my images was removed to mixed media. To the Mod,well sorry i did not meant to violate the fractal terms. But i do think my images are fractal images and belong in the fractal gallery,Most of them are born in the great apo and a few in uf and fe . They are meant to share with the world what imo beautiful things can be done with fractals. They represent the other side of fractal creations spectrum imo. The things I add are meant to complete a fractal image but it's still a fractal image to my feelings. The birh and the heart of the images are fractal. I will post them in the mix medium though because I don't want to violate anything or irritate anyone but I had to get this of my chest. take care and catch y'all later and if there is bad english in here..sorry for that too. later..from Longrider and fractals rule and rock big time.

Hi Brian...you're not alone in your mixed feelings about the change. I'm finding it pretty nice over in MM...I'm enjoying the variety alot. ;o)

Treat people as if they were what they ought to be...
And you help them to become what they are capable of being.

Brian
This was not an overnight decision. Barbara (DreamWarrior) and I thought this out, while taking everyone's opinions into account.
Hopefully I can clarify this a bit:

"But i do think my images are fractal images and belong in the fractal gallery,Most of them are born in the great apo and a few in uf and fe ."

When you bring in other elements, the 'focus' tends to go away from the 'fractal' part of the image, and this IS a 'Fractal' gallery. (Check this post on 'Focal Point')

"They are meant to share with the world what imo beautiful things can be done with fractals. They represent the other side of fractal creations spectrum imo."

Exactly...we completely understand, and that is another good reason for the move. As stated in the new guidelines, we feel that as the 'Mixed Medium' gallery grows with fractal compositions, it will also draw more interest in fractals.

Hope this helps :)

Hi Nick concerning the focal point I have this to say,Everyone can make of something what he or she wants. It is what someone wants to see,I as the creator consider them images with the fractal as focal point and someone else might see something else depending on what that person wants the fractal gallery to look like and how that person is. Everything that can be done with fractals should be in the fractal gallery. But as I said in the first message no problem I move on to the mixed medium gallery but this is how I think about it. Peace and Love and we still cool. How do I move my images,do I have to upload them all again one by one?[I hope not] I think I move them all if there is something in the image that has to do with other software because that focal point story is very very confusing to me. Help needed Nick & Barbara how do I move them.

go to your gallery press on edit change gallery upload

DreamWarrior ( ) posted Sat, 04 September 2004 at 1:22 PM

Hi Brian, under each thumbnail in your gallery you will find a button that reads "edit". Click on that. You will be taken to a page with the upload form you're familiar with (the one that shows when you upload a new image). In this case, you only want to change the "gallery" (and possibly the "genre", but that's up to you of course). The first two are drop down lists just for that. After you made those changes, there is no need to change anything else. Just hit the "upload" button at the end of the form. Don't worry if you see the fields for the image and the thumbnail blank: it just means the image and thumb you currently have in the gallery will remain. Some members use the "mixed media" gallery along with the "fractal" genre, so other members interested in seeing mixed media images containing fractals can find those images easily. I hope this helps, and don't hesitate to contact me (or Nick) if you need further assistance. Cheers! Barbara

Like Longrider, I too have been away from fractals for some time...(spending it on the Terragen side)...but I just commented on a fractal image I saw in the overall gallery and noticed it was submitted into MM. It sounds like the new fractal forum rules will exclude all of Longriders images and, I suspect all of mine as well....I know the "amount of postwork" issue has been beaten to death many times...and, not only in this forum. In the truest sense, there should only be one gallery...MM....because I suspect that almost every image posted here at Rendo has been "modified" in some way.... Anyway, just my thoughts.....not a problem, but I think this gallery will be losing many of it's best artists.

In youth, we learn....with age, we understand.
