Fractals F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 13 3:03 pm)
Where does one person draw the line ? When you used this apophysis design to make the letters, and even I could see that it was the apo image in the lettering , should that take away from the focus? The lettering is only the form of the image. The art says something and should be a statement of the program used , and that was apophysis. So why move it ? I am confused :S
Harmen...I don't think who the designer is has anything to do with it. Emptyness to me wasn't recognizable as a fractal (JMO)...if you hadn't shown the fractal I wouldn't have known you'd used it for the lettering. It just looked like text flood filled with a gradient to me. It is a powerful piece...;o)
Treat people as if they were what they ought to be...
And you help them to become what they are capable of being.

This has NOTHING to do with popularity, Harmen.
With the major increase of mixed Fractal/3D,etc. images we were getting in the gallery, the line had to be drawn somewhere.
There were questions raised here by members, such as "Where is the Fractal in this image?", and "That is a Bryce image with a Fractal in the bottom corner" (just examples).
Then it became a percentage game with things like "90% 3D, and 10% Fractal", 60/40, and so on.
There is no way that we were about to use percentages in deciding what should stay, and what should go.
We have a "Mixed Medium" gallery here on Rendo. THIS is a "Fractal" gallery.
After all the back and forth on this thing, we decided the best way to go was by the 'focus' of the images. If the main focus of your image is a Fractal (the point where your eye is drawn to in the image), it belongs here. If you have other elements in the image that take the 'focus' off the Fractal (3D/2D objects, tubes, photos, etc.), then it belongs in "Mixed Medium".
Harmen, the first thing you see when viewing your image, is the text. The Fractal part is secondary, and therefore does not comply with rules.

well you should take a look at Urchin's gallery, and move quite a few of them. He has designs with the focus on the object, not the fractal... But you don't wanna do that, cause then he will lose all his votes. My design is the ILLUSION of emptiness... It's made out of a fractal. If people don't write anything under it with which it's made, you have a big problem.
you have to be an artist to see what this design is all about, it's an imagination, an illusion ... the text 'emptiness...' isn't really there ... so you shouldn't see that either if you don't see that, then you have no imagination, and don't know the value of this design, not know what's meant by the artist if you say there is only text, then you can not feel what it means emptiness... is backwards, it means it's an odd world, ya should be happy with what you have, but you can't, you feel emptiness, no love anymore, no happiness, just anger to what they have done to you to feel empty but guess you don't feel it, for all you say: it's text, not a fractal, so it doesn't belong in this FRACTAL gallery!!!
Harmen,
This has nothing to do with what the design or the piece means artistically. This has nothing to do with judging the value of the work. We have to decide whether a piece belongs to this gallery or not based on a set criteria. We do not judge the art, just "sort" it.
We can miss pieces that need to be moved, because there are sooooo many. We do not move pieces based on sympathy or friendship, either.
For future reference, when you have a disagreement with us or any member about anything, pleae write us in private. In your posts you are pre-judging our motives and our actions and that is not fair at all. We are not judging you, NOR your piece, we just have to place it correctly according to the rules. It is also not fair to start pointing fingers at others.
Further, if you are not sure about what we mean by the 'focus' of an image, please look at this post, and the links provided within:

well ... i don't have a problem with anyone here, i just have a problem with your description and decision whether something is a fractal or not... and so do others seem to have that same problem with your decison to move it anywhere where YOU please, i was contacted by a moderator from another gallery, suggesting to move a design to a different gallery, NOT just moving without negotiation, like you do it is up to the designer himself to decide where it should be uploaded or not, not YOU, so if you at FIRST suggest something and then discuss it, instead of JUST moving it to somewhere to where YOU think it should be if you do as you please, you will see that artists just move away from here and stay out of trouble someplace else now you run the scepter, and your wrong in doing that this is a community which holds many people together, and if you run around like a policeman or referee and just make decisions without negotiating first, then you make yourself very unpopular to other members learn from it... and i aint gonna put this in your IM for it is a public matter and as far for my design, your wrong!!! but thats fine, you are just the moderator... have a good day Harmen

Through composition, and having a main focal point, the artist can actually control which part of his picture the viewer will linger over. Once a definite focal point is established, the viewer can be lead either directly or indirectly through the art. The use of light and dark contrasts will also emphasize the center of interest.it says the artist can control...
not someone else

This is getting old...
I already explained the reasons...
I already explained the rules...
This is NOT a "Mixed Medium" gallery.

the design 'emptiness...' has been moved from the fractal gallery to mixed medium the ori is an apophysis image all i did was taking the words out in photoshop just a tiny little postwork on a fractal which 'changes' the so called focus will make it a mixed medium? a square is a fractal too *smile*
