Sometimes people post that they're suffering from the equivalent of Writer's Block, and can't come up with an idea for a picture. I don't use Bryce for pictures myself, but had an idea yesterday that I thought MAYBE might be a starting-point for someone who'd hit a dry spot. I was pumping out liquid soap from a cheap plastic dispenser in my bathroom, and thinking how something that seems so humble and cheap is, reality, very high-tech. I had a mental flash of some primitive humans or aliens in a cave somewhere, engaged in a magical ceremony, surrounded by local artifacts, but with scavenged things like the soap dispenser in pride of place, being used for dispensing something gruesome like blood or sumpn. Things that are regarded as cheap throwaway items in this culture would be considered pretty fantastic in a more primitive society. As I said, just a random thought............... tee hee - I've just reminded myself of a photo I saw in National Geographic - a man from some remote nomadic tribe with a headdress on. Pride of place on the headdress was a tooled Morrocan leather sandal.

I hate to scare you, pogmahone, but yesterday I too was looking at a plastic soap dispenser and thinking how 'primitive' peoples would marvel at something we throw away. How weird is that?! And extra doubly weird, my chain of thought regarding the 'fossil fuels' used in the dispenser and in the making of it, actually led to a brief consideration of the notion of pogmahone chastising me in The Den for being so environmentally reckless. And yet here you are joining me in destroying the planet. But that's a discussion for that other forum. ;-) And yes, a 'Stig of the Dump' type scenario could make a good piccie.

Moreover who remember an old Anime, titled Dash Kappei, where a little japanese college guy had a real reverence for white panties with a bow, same culture, but diferent consideration from different people of that culture (women=just panties, Dash=idol). :P just kidding!

What I find frightening, since starting 3D modeling only 3 weeks ago I find myself looking at the world differently. "Hey, that lamp post would be cool to model in Bryce." "How would I go about modeling a coil of rope?" "You know the way the light is reflecting off that window looks odd. If I did that in Bryce, people would comment on how wrong it is. But yet here it is in real life." I'm seeing meshes everywhere. Is this happening to anyone else. Some scenes that you guys make are so beautiful, I think to myself "I'd rather be there". How much do you think DAZ would charge me for making a hyper acurate Poser figure of me, and then I could pay all you guys to put me in your scenes. ;-)

DAZ did a "3D Clone" of Anna-Marie Goddard, a real life "supermodel" (it's not a bad effort, actually). The original licence stipulated that you couldn't use the 3D 'her' in, shall we say, the typical 'Renderotica' way. It was a silly licence restriction (now gone I think) but perhaps understandable given the things some people make at that place. - shudder -

I wonder why there haven't been a plethora of celebrity Poser figures. I would image there would be a huge market for Elvis, Bogart, Monroe, Brittney Spears and such. I for one would love a figure of Eva Gardner, Veronica Lake, Grace Kelly and Lauren Bacall circa 1945. :-O I'm getting goose bumps just thinking about it.

For distribution of 'celebrity image', there would have to be a licence agreement with the celebrity or their estate (if applicable) in order to sell 3D versions of them. Celebs use their image to make millions endorsing products, etc, so their image is worth real money. If you want to know the ins and outs of the legalities of this matter you could do worse than to ask in the copyright forum here. There are some celebrity Poser morphs of varying degrees of success floating about. I'm pretty sure I've seen a 'Buffy' and a 'Britney'.
