Just uploaded... A Bryce version of a Carrara render I recently uploaded to my gallery... Bryce 5 rendered using desaturated image textures... no post-work... gun is free from DAZ... everything else modelled in Carrara... Thanks for taking a peek...

absolutely stunning, tempest. my only thing with this would be either making the curtains less regular or just adding some transparency :)

This is a fascinating composition. The gun and the stain below the window which looks like blood is compelling. In the darkness (the lower left) perhaps a leg could be added (as if someone had been shot), just barely visible. I don't know, just a thought. :-|

Thanks for the comments...

I was shooting for a classic, 'B' movie feel with this... but I didn't want to limit the viewer to one story, i.e. 'here's the gun, here's the body, book 'em, Dano...' My intention was to raise questions...'what happened to the guy in the chair?...Is that his blood/gun?...if not, whose are they?... why is the window left open?.. and who is waiting in shadows?...'

I did one version where the chair was lying on its side... but, although I liked the idea behind that one since it raised yet another question, I just couldn't make it look good compositionally... and I was running out of time. So this is the final version.

:o)

My photography teacher (from way back when) called this an Editorial Inquisitive Composition. Whereby, the image is attempting to lead the viewer towards a conclusion by enticing them to ask questions and hopefully tell a story by doing so. She went on to say that the photographer should never require the viewer to ask more than 3 questions. Otherwise, it becomes an exercise in frustration. "Who is waiting in the shadows?" There's someone waiting in the shadows. I can't see anything there and my monitor's Gamma is maxed-out. I'm getting scared...

Looks good to me, love the monochromaticism (word?), anyway, I'd add a whole lot of grunge. Perhaps the chair is too perfect. and the walls are too regular. Grunge it up a bit in photoshop. You can even save it as a layer to apply to the image after you've finalized the render.

the gun looks a little out-of-scale to the chair, but everything else looks awesome!
