Damn, that's bad. As it happened at work, is there no way you can claim anything back from their insurance? If it was in a room not intended for public access then surely they should be covered for employees belongings? I mean, it's a distinct lack of security in general on their behalf if anyone can just walk into labs. Grrr - I feel angry for ya now!!! (",)
That completely bites. I'm with Jordy though. Don't they share some responsobility in keeping your belongings safe? What kind of place, especially a lab, allows that kind of access without some kind of security? Maybe I'm being a little unrealistic what most places have for security after working at the Times. Just to get to my desk requires me to use an electronic access card to get through 4 security doors while passing 6 different security cameras and a guard station. Anyway, I feel your pain my friend. I hope it works out somehow. :/ -=>Donald
Actually Michael, I'm getting a small taste of how you feel at the moment.... I've just spent the last 2 hours trying to find out where my good Fuji is - I've got an empty bag and I can't find it anywhere. The last time I remember having it for definate is when I put it down to put my kite in the car a couple of weeks back.... urk..... time to stop hoping and start praying a bit... (",)

And Poof! All your equipment is gone. Yeah, it happened to me today. I ran home for a few minutes at lunch today and left camera bag at work. When I came back I went into my office/lab and went to put down my sunglasses on my camera bag, one problem. No camera bag. I left one employee (who just handed in notice Friday) and the Doctor there and they left the lab unattended for "15 seconds" they said. In that time, or however long it was, someone came into the store, walked behind the counter and into the optical lab and took nothing but my camera bag. My laptop sitting right next to it was never touched. Of course it was booted up and plugged in too. So here I sit with only an N6006 left. No lenses, no flash, no CF cards, no cable release, not even a battery for the 6006! $3000 worth of equipment gone. I had it all insured but the insurence company has already started giving me the run around. Seems even though I paid extra premiums for "Replacement value", I only get a check for depriciated value. Then anything over I have to send them a reciept and they will send the balance "sometime afterwards". To top that off, due to all the claims from all the hurricanes in Florida it may take as much as 8 weeks to get any money at all! For cripes sakes these people can't even pronounce Nikon or Nikkor! The call Nikkor nicker! Of course I have the option to go out and replace my equipment with my own money and take the gamble that they will reimburse me. Of course if I spend more than they feel is the "replacement value" that is just tough nuggies for me. This and its less than a week before I turn 43, which I might add feels worse than 40. I think I will go beat up my insurence policy now. Magick Michael Who don't feel to "magical" at the moment...
