Subject: Problems With Having Two Figures In One Scene

mathman ( ) posted Thu, 30 September 2004 at 5:54 AM ยท edited Sun, 17 November 2024 at 8:57 PM

Hi all, I have loaded two instances of Mike 3 into my scene. I have moved them away from each other so that I can see them individually. I added all body morphs to the first M3, and then I applied Muscular2 to 0.5. It responded straight away by morphing as expected. Likewise when I applied numerous other morphs. I then added all body morphs to the second M3, and applied Muscular2 to 0.5. There was no response whatsoever. I tried numerous other body morphs but nothing happened. It seems as if the second M3 doesn't accept morphs at all. Is this a variation of the old crosstalk problem ? I shouldn't be getting this anyway seeing as I have Poser 5, SR4. Any help appreciated. regards, Andrew

DAZ injection poses are hardcoded to figure 1. They don't work properly when injected into the second figure added to a scene. You can do some file editing, or you can make your characters separately and load one in from the library to get two in a scene.

Oh wow, didn't know this. Thanks for letting me know :) What sort of file editing could you do ? ... can you elaborate on this ? thanks, Andrew

The simplest solution is just save the first M3, the one that's been morphed, to the library then start a new scene, load M3 and morph him as you wish, save to the library, then start a new scene, load a NULL figure if you are using Poser 4/ProPack (to prevent cross-talk) and then M3-1, then M3-2.

You'll save lots of trouble if you only inject the morphs you intend to use (rather than all body morphs). Give your figures hair and clothes that you want. Save the figure to the library. Do the same with all your other characters. When you're ready to create your scene, take the figures from your character library.

mathman, see this link, for info on the file editing.

Here's what I usually do when using 2 Vicky 3's: Morph, dress & pose each figure separately and save them in a Figure file I created called "My Characters," usually as D&P (dressed & posed) and D&P. Set up the scene I want, import each character, adjust any poses if needed (esp. if they're touching), set the lighting and render. I've never had a problem with the two "interferring" with each other when I do it like this.

What works for me without having to go to much trouble... is to just separately morph each body part of the second figure.
