Subject: Clothing and hair etc

I just started using DAZ Studio, and have a question. After you add a body, the body is in regular shape. When you go to poses, you can change the way the model shapes. Now this is my question. When I goto hair and clothing, and add the clothing and hair, they sort of going to the positions where the body had originally, you know with the arms aside and straight body. How can I move the hair and clothing to match the body? Sorry, just started with this and really like it but cant seem to figure out a way to move the hair and clothes along with the body. Thank You...

Most of the clothing available is "conforming" clothes. This means they'll match the figure position but not always the shape - if you've changed it with morphs. In order to get that to happen automatically select the hip of the figure you want to clothe, then load the clothing figure and it should conform to that model. If it doesn't (and once in a while it won't) Select the clothing model in the scene listing (one of the menus on the side) then in the Properties pallete scroll down until you see a bar saying "Fit To", click on that and select the figure you want the clothing to belong to from the drop down box. You might have some, what is called, "poke through". This unfortunately is often unavoidable and sometimes you'll need to make a body part invisible to hide it. That can be done in the properties window as well after selecting the body part. This will be more noticeable in poses that stretch or bend limbs beyond minimal movement parameters - such as sitting, kneeling, stretching. That's a limitation in the way joints are set up inside most files. Hopefully (one day) that will get fixed by having a more modern and logical or at least versatile joint system.

Thanks for the quick response. Sorry to ask again but I dont understand something. I load the model. The model is normal shape, with hands out. I load the hair which goes to the right place, no problems. Then I load one of the clothing that comes with the software, the ferrie clothes, and they match too. Now, my question is this. How can I click on one of the poses and pose the body and the clothes/hair at the same time. If that is not possible, then how do I go about getting the hair and clothes on the model. Is there a specific steps, etc that I have to take? I really appreciate your help...

Well as long as the hair and clothing are fit to the model, you should make sure that the model and the model only is selected in the scene window to the right of your main viewport then double click on the pose from your library on the right of your viewport. Everything should fall in place. If not then select the piece that is out of alignment and use the x,y, or z translate to align appropiately. Hope this helps.

First think you need to do is make sure you use the "fit to" command. This will conform the clothing/hair to the figure. Once you do this, the clothing/hair will move as you move the figure.

Sometimes the hair is moved into position but is 'linked' to the hip and not the head. You can check this in the scene window. You can drag the hair down the tree and put it next to head. The same sometimes happens to clothes or other items like wings not being linked to the back etc...

Parenting usually works better, in my opinion, than fit to, fit to does not allow you to move an object freely, if it is not fitted properly after fit too it is just too bad, when parented it can be moved and size adjusted to correct minor misfits {major ones too}.
