Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 10 1:16 pm)
1 - be sure you've conformed the clothing to the figure using the menu command Figure -> COnform to -> and then picked the right figure to conform it to (the person).
2 - Poses do take a long time do to, and only in the earilest stages (if ever) would you do it by grabbing a figure in the screen. Poses are done a bit at a time.
3 - On the properties panel of the dial palette for the stomach, uncheck visible and visible in ray tracing for parts of the body that aren't visible under the clothing. Aside from being a lot easier, it also reduces the load on the system when rendering.
thou and I, my friend, can, in the most flunkey world, make, each of us, one non-flunkey, one hero, if we like: that will be two heroes to begin with. (Carlyle)
"From a zero figure to a sitting pose, without applying some other pose." Why not apply some other pose? Unless you're planning to sell the resulting pose, it's often easiest to apply a pose which is close to what you want, then adjust the bits that aren't right. If you want a hand or foot to be touching something in the scene, turn on IK for that limb, which will give you X, Y and Z translate dials for the hand or foot in question. Use those to position it, then turn IK off again. Sometimes conforming clothes do suddenly leap off the figure, even when properly conformed; try tweaking the pose a tiny bit, or move the figure very slightly, which often cures it.
"If I try to use the parameter dials, I can't make his knee bend" This is probably because you have IK turned on for the leg, turn Ik for the leg off before trying to bend the knee. 1. To make a basic sitting pose, turn Inverse Kinematics (IK) on for the legs. Select the Right or Left camera. With the cursor select the hip, drag it down and back untill the figure is in a sitting position, use the hips Bend dial to set the angle of the back. This gives you a basic sitting pose. Turn IK off tweak the pose, pose the arms etc, then save your pose. 2. you are applyinng the pose to the clothes instead of the character. Make sure the character figure is selected in the dropdown figure menu under the document window, before you apply the pose.
