Hey Doc, any chance we will see this in a PDF format? Its a very timely tutorial. I was just working on converting some lightwave models into Poser figures.

Hi Steve, Crescent, over at her [Ebonshire website](http://www.ebonshire.net/tut-geep/index.php) is graciously hosting most of my tuts as .pdf's. I do not know when (or if) she'll do this one in the future. Someday, I hope to do a CD with all(?) my tuts on it (for a nominal fee, of course, ha ha). Actually, I was about to check with geep and make sure was okay if I put up a few more batches of tutorials now that I've finally moved everything over to my new site. Since I'm still getting free publicity, it looks like it's okay. ;-) I'll wander back in when I've been able to get some of the tutorials up. Cheers!

I converted a few more tutorials to .pdf and put them on my site today, but since this tutorial isn't finished yet, I haven't done a conversion. When Doc gets back and gets this one finished, I'll be glad to get it converted. Cheers!

Questions from the back: At what point should you Weld? Do you need to create a new group to Weld? Can you use the 'Body' and Weld that? Is there any reason why you would want to undo a Weld? If so, how? Dr.Geep - this is truly an epic tutorial, thank you!

Hi libernull, Thank you for the compliment ... ;=] ... AND the inquiry ... ... you have asked some very good questions. ;=]

Here are the ... Answers to the back: Q. "At what point should you Weld? " A. I am not sure because I did not write the code ... but, having said that, I believe you can do the "Weld" operation at any point in time. Q. "Do you need to create a new group to Weld? " A. Yes, and no ... Yes, if a group does not exist that includes all the polygons in the figure ... and no, if the figure already has a group (like the "Body") that includes all the polygons. Q. "Can you use the 'Body' and Weld that? " A. Sure, why not ... see the answer to the previous question. Q. "Is there any reason why you would want to undo a Weld? " A. A very, very good question ... and Yes, if you wanted to use the same figure (mesh) but change the configuration of the body parts, you might want an "unwelded" figure. Q. "If so, how? " A. Ah, yes, unwelding a mesh ... The easiest way is to export the figure as a (single) "Wavefront OBJect..." and then use UVMapper (a free program) to "split vertices." Now you can Import the OBJect back into Poser without the vertices welded. - - - - - -
